RallyPoint members are scattered all over America. More than a few it seems are scattered over other parts of the world. I've made friends with a few of them. Some are even contacts. But I had never met one in person before yesterday. I had posted a notice about the 50th Commemoration of the Vietnam War at Fort Irwin, California, and Ken Ellis contacted me to find out if we could go together. We could and we did. I highly recommend that you try it, too.

You can read about our experience in my VFW post weblog.

A few of my contacts were contacts ~ friends before we met up on RP. The man who invited me to join RP and I were friends for many years.

I've been inviting every vet I know to join since I discovered RP (and a few have taken me up on it). Funny, I can't remember how I first discovered it, if maybe someone told me about it. Then again, I'm at an age when I can't remember what I just ate for breakfast (although I can sing commercial jingles from the 50's)

No but I wish I did. I can imagine what a great experience that would be.

I have been wondering what might happen if I announced on RP a BBQ at my home. That might be an interesting experiment, don't you think?

#CPT Jack Durish, that would be cool but if everybody took the offer your neighbors might not be able to park.

CPT Jack Durish, I've actually met only two my of my RP contacts. Unfortunately, I knew them before connecting on RP, so I don't think it really counts. I'm glad that you took the virtual connection to a person to person connection!

I have not. But, I did meet a vet from my home area. He was on FB and we had a good time.

Yep.
Three are former cadets at CMA, the college prep HS I worked at for 9 years.
One was my last boss before I retired.
One was my Asst/S-3chief.

Not sure if it counts but 1LT Eric Rosa and I served together in the NCARNG, did War Fighter together and a deployment to Jordan. That is where he gave me his Rally Point card and I only signed in last week. He is a great training partner for martial arts, strong as a horse. Eric, sorry to call you out but you are truly a great guy and officer.
