I am reminded of a pilot in Viet Nam that kept flying through artillery boxes when I tried to vector him around them. He told me not to worry because he flies under the "Big Sky Theory"; big sky, small airplane, even smaller artillery shell - what are the odds?

Texas is a big place. Terrorists are relatively pretty small.

Cassie M., terrorists attack in many ways; just be aware of your surroundings and beware of people leaving packages in public places, etc.

But most attacks come out of the blue from what I have seen; it could be a knife attack or a shooting or a bombing. If you are carrying you will have some defense against a knife or a gun, and if you avoid crowded places you will minimize your chances of being where a bomb goes off. But you have a better chance of being struck by lightning than by a terrorist.

PVT James Strait, you would be surprised at how many pilots fly routinely under the "big sky" theory. The mid-airs that I am familiar with happened in areas of increasing traffic such as airfields or special cases such as dogfighting practice areas or air shows, etc. where normal separation rules are not observed.

PVT James Strait, altitude separation rules depending upon heading serve to keep them apart during most routine flights.

Cassie M. I hate to tell you this, but since you are presumably American ('Merica Heck Yeah!) you are a constant target. That doesn't mean you should build a bunker, stock up on automatic engagement systems, and live off your prepper supplies. I would really love to see some sort of robotic engagement system set up though, that would be cool to see!
What it does mean is you have to keep your eye out for things that are out of place. A great example is someone setting a back pack down and walking away. Another one is a car so loaded down it almost scrapes the tops of its tires on the wheel wells. There are so many little things to watch out for you might drive yourself batty trying to. So my suggestion is just to follow your gut, if it doesn't seem right just walk away.

PERFECT...TY..THAT'S the answer I was looking for. Yet, I am happy the question I asked, did raise various opionions, and created many viewers. The only way to learn is to ask, the only way to grow, is to retain it.
You put it EXACTLY as I needed Thank You Sir.

You should be more concerned about the other drivers on the road, they are much more likely to kill you. I feel bad for law enforcement who are now likely fielding a lot of calls about suspicious individuals who's only crime is to look a little out on the norm. I wouldn't worry too much.

This we live with everyday, walking out our doors. Only now we do not have to leave our homes either. The difference being, civilians dont live with terrorists everyday. The insight is what I ask most. TY for your honesty.

Cassie M. - I don't mean to diminish your apprehension. It's just not something I think most of us can do much about. As a society we are a very soft target so it is extremely difficult to be able to pick out any terrorist activity from the normal day to day activity of people just going about their lives. Because we don't deal with a lot of terrorist activity normally it is normal for a person to put down a package in a crowd and walk away here because people generally are not thinking that is what someone with a bomb would do. As an alert person it would then be very difficult for you to know the difference between that person and a person with deadly intent. Not to mention terrorist attacks happen here very infrequently and coming across such an activity would be very extremely unlikely.

Based on that and for me I choose not to make it a huge part or worry in my life. If we start getting enough attacks for us as a society to change our behaviors I might have a different opinion.
