PV2 Donald Dean - Unfortunately the US Flag Code is intentionally written in the form of guidelines. It uses "should" instead of shall. The US Supreme Court has ruled multiple times that state laws the try to enact laws that make flag code violations a crime are a violation of our citizen's rights. I don't agree with this, but that's the way it is. Military regs can, of course, be enforced by the military on their members.

Went into the PX as a retiree with my old 3 Day pack, OD color, over my shoulder with my flag above all my wings and unit patches. Still wore a military hair cut.
Was approached my a CSM and he went to chastise me about my back pack.
My answer to him was “I’m sure you’ll get over it”. And went about my business.

I don't view it as disrespect when 06s and E9s in the same unit trade banter; it is a good relationship between the two. But I'm guilty of violating sub para (g) as mentioned as I spent good money on a wood-burned flag replica having Airborne wings burnt in. I ain't throwing it away either!

My CSM was often the only man who knew what was really going on. His knowledge and experience saved my butt on several occasions. I will always be thankful for his wisdom.

As SGT Chen and SGM Stokes said FT Hood does have the III Corps handbook that every soldier on post is required to carry on their person. I've been out for four years now and only just "retired" my copy of the hand book from my pov last week, heh.

I worked at the va, and asked a guy some questions about the job, and told him most places don't like questions. He was in the navy and said "if you hear a funny noise, and don't ask about it, and the boat sinks, that would be a bad thing".

I'm trying to figure out how I would answer that question because it comes off as a stupid one at first glance. I'm the same way, I have plenty excess velcro flags that I place where it'll stick.

SGT (Join to see) i was reading through all these comments about the flag but i wss looking for something about what the flag means because recently my confidence in whst the flag means was severely shaken when 6 Honolulu police officers responding to a 911 call from a caller who is protected from me knowing who they are and disputing the accusation...came to my house...i invited them in my home thinking they were there to help me with my dog Diazo who was being treated for cancer and from the evening of June 18 2019 at 1930 until HPD came to my home around 1845 Diazo was in terrible pain and bleeding from 3 external tumors he would not let me touch him...i tried everything to get the veterinary hospotal treating Diazo for the cancer to send somd kind of pain pill to the local cvs pharmacy i could give Diazo so i can get him into the xterra and get Diazo to verc animal hospital...i live on oahu if anyone is familar with the island in kunia not far from Schofield barracks...the doctor cannot prescribe anything for Diazo until the doctor examines Diazo first...but the doctor saw Diazo 2 days ago Ur tresting him for cancer this went on round and round all day...i couldn't even get a doctor to call and i even emailed puctures of diazo...i am 90% service comnected with ptsd at 70% of the 90% but i am individually permanently unemployable so that is 100% automatically...i also have chronic back pain depression and anxiety...it is very difficult for me to talk on the phone but i am trying to ecplain my disabilities to the VERC office staff...the world was closing in around me...first 2 HPD officers came then 2 more officers then 2 more officers making it 6 police officers...when the count was 4 HPD police officers i was grabbed handcuffed with my arms behind my back far beyond my range of motion then shoved into the back of the police car facedown and locked in the car with the windows rolled up...engine off no a/c...i told the police about my disabilities before being grabbed... i am also 63 years old...about 30 minutes later i was overheating overwhelmed and ptsd and anxiety was in uncharted territory...i hadnt done anything...i was not charged with anything and the police officers kept telling me Ur not under arrest but i sure felt like i wad under arrest...i was calling for help from the backseat of the police car the one officer standing close to the police car just ignored me while the 5 other police officers went through my house and took my firearms...i was taken in handcuffs to Tripler Army Hospital...it was humiliating...in less than 3 hours i was cleared by 3 army doctors...they said we dont understand why U were brought here and i disagree with U being brought here in handcuffs...i am going to discharge U so U can go home and take care of Ur dog...walked out of Tripler at 0005 and there was a message from verc...Diazo had been transpoted by humane society to verc.. spoke with this doctor at verc at first it was a little testy but she was great...j didn't have any cash or credit card on me so i walked back home to kunia...one if the army doctors wanted to give me all the money he had in his wallet but i couldn't take it...i told the doctor i had money but i didn't...the cancer had spread and Diazo died...i never said goodbye to Diazo and i never saw Diazo again...Diazo was not just a dog but my entire world and only friend...how the fuck does this happen in America and when did i forfeit civil and constitutional rights by being honest and asking for help...my answer is it doesn't and i didn't...i am still wrapping my head around this because it is unbelievable but if Ur a veteran in Hawaii and U ask for help with ptsd or something U will find Urself in a place with no Aloha...the flag really doesn't care how it is displayed but i believe the flag cares about what it represents and that paper called the constitution which Hawaii is wiping its ass with...i dont blame HPD...this is how the laws are written and they were following the laws...one of the police officers was a retired senior chief...i thought when i showed them Diazo it will explain why i am upset...i cannot blame 6 police officers who are that god damn stupid...i kept telling myself this has to be a nitemare but then i would tell myself if it was a nightmare i would have woken up by now...June 19 2019 is tge worst day of my life...Diazo suffered so much pain in the ladt 24 hours of his life...i have told this story on other parts of this forum and i will tell it many more times...if Ur having problems please seek competent help which is hard to find but ask how this will affect Ur constitutional rights...this was Diazo...i miss him terribly
