Lois Lerner Claimed Lincoln Was Worst President. Why She’s Wrong. Do you agree?

I found this article to be of interest because it talks about one of our Presidents that had one tough road ahead of him when becoming the President of the United States during a very tremulous time. It also displays the very problem we have in this country with politics and their involvement and corruption. The Lois Lerner issue is a whole other story for a different day.

How do rate President Lincoln based on the facts presented?

That is preposterous; but, what would you expect from Lois Lerner COL Mikel J. Burroughs.
From what I have read she is the worst kind of ideologue, elevated to a high level of government where she ignored the basic rules of law and targeted political opponents. From all accounts she has been unrepentant of her actions.
Abraham Lincoln rose from poverty on his own and taught himself to read by firelight. He worked hard, lost many elections yet continued to fight for what he believed with written and spoken words. He was the man the nation needed in the most horrible circumstances this nation has ever faced - the US Civil War. His principled stand that ll men are created equal and his deep faith in God enabled him to achieve greatness in statesmanship and compassion even while his family went through the extreme tragedies of death of his son and depression of his wife Mary Todd Lincoln

Lincoln's objective was to keep the Union together and aren't we all thankful today that we live in the United States of America and not something else. Need I say more?

CPT (Join to see), Nope! We live in the greatest country in the world because of leaders like Lincoln. His visions into the future are beyond reproach. He knew what needed to be done and he accomplished his mission.

That woman keeps digging herself deeper and deeper. She should just be quiet and keep her nonsense to herself.

Actually, I'm glad she's that vocal. Of course it doesn't matter when the main stream media shields the gen-pop from the stupidity they bring to their party.

I totally disagree with Lois Lerner, COL Mikel J. Burroughs. The worst U.S. President is still among the living.
However, I wouldn't bother to consider anything that Lois Lerner had to say in any event. In my opinion, she's much like what an old friend of mine who offered up this little saying one day about someone who had told a whopper, "She'd rather shinny up a greased flag pole and tell a lie, rather than stand on her own two feet on the ground and tell the truth."

No matter how anyone tries to spin it, Abraham Lincoln was one of our greatest Presidents, if not our greatest President, because he ended slavery and held the nation together. Historians point out that he did many things like suspending habious corpus and detaining American citizens without due process; but he civil war likely could not have been one without many of the bold decisions he made. He was the rare leader we so much lack today.

Actually, Ms Lerner is not very original in her argument. Indeed, most of the country at that time, including his cabinet members, thought that the South should have been allowed to secede. The Union was held together largely by Lincoln's force of will. Was that a good thing? Well, I suppose if you're pro-slavery you might revile Lincoln. Is that the source of Ms Lerner's opinion? Sorta makes ya wonder, doesn't it?

The pro-slavery position was only one facet of the South's wish to leave. The 40% tariff on cotton designed to force the South to sell its cotton to the North instead of Great Britain was another. The issue was the right of the states to control their commerce among other things.
Looking at today's growing centralizing of power from Washington as it reduces the states to mere administrators of its will one can appreciate the prescience of the Southern states.
My family left France 488 years ago to escape centralized government control over their lives. France hasn't changed that policy even today. Is that what Americans really want?

Lincoln wasn't the best president we have had but he far from the worst ( Wilson. Cater and Obama hold that title) The civil war wasn't about slavery ( Lincoln has been quoted to have said that if slavery was the price to keep the Union together, he would paid it) The war was about state's rights, which he walk on

This is going to tick off a lot of people. I agree. The only president to declare martial law. The only president to declare war on Americans.
As a Southerner I believe that we should have been allowed to leave. It's obvious that many New York Times reading Northerners (Democrats) think so too if you see how many wish we'd been allowed to leave too. Some are even for us to leave now. The comments are vicious, criticizing our allegiance to religion, claims that we are under educated and of course we are all racists.
We were two nations forced into a union that South never wanted but for threats to commerce from the Northern states. The same issue was a cause for the War Of Northern Aggression, tariffs designed to force the South to sell its cotton to the North for less instead of Britain.
We are still being forced to stay together with federal threats to our economic security made possible by over taxation to produce funds to be used a cudgel to beat the states into submission. Washington will not be happy until we've become France with centralized control over every facet of citizen's lives.
We can try this again. This time lets do it by peaceable agreement.
And just as the Democrats are removing Jefferson and Jackson as icons of their party because they were slave owners and Native American persecutors it's time the Republicans dropped Lincoln because of his war mongering and aggression towards the South.

PO2 Robert Cuminale No worries there. It may tick people off, but this site is all about everyone professionally expressing there opinion based on knowledge that they have or their beliefs. Not everyone is going to agree with everyone.
