Now that the news has started spreading the restroom debate, how do you feel about it?

I don't know if the whole issue is humorous or sad. Humorous because there have been transgendered people using the restrooms of the gender they identify with for who knows how long. And there have also been sexual predators going to great lengths to get their kicks for just as long. This isn't some new issue that magically appeared overnight, and yet people are acting like it is exactly that.
However, it is rather sad because it demonstrates the degradation of free and individual thought in our society. The only reason people are freaking out about it now is because the politicians and media are telling them too. On top of that, the people who are freaking out are allowing their fears to overwhelm their common sense and decency.

Its a shift of goalposts by the religious conservative right. Nothing wrong with being any of the three, but thats the demographic that has been waging thier war on the LGBTQ community for decades. They've lost the battle against most of the equality alphebet soup and are now focusing their efforts on the T and Q in hopes for a last ditch victory against what they had perceived as a weak foe. Fortunately the trans community is stepping up in amazong ways and is amassing some good allies.
When you have organizations like the Family Research Council who are lobbying to literally legislate Transgender out of society as a whole, its very difficult for me to respect opposing or dissenting views when they are represented by such bile. (Source for that FRC, its literally a five point plan, its sad and reeks of desperation. http://www.frc.org/transgender )

Understanding and Responding to the Transgender Movement

It's ridiculous that this is even an issue at all. Transwomen are women just as transmen are men. Women use the women's room and men use the men.

The problem is not the trans community, the fear is over predators that would use this to their advantage, but I think SSgt David Jones makes a good point.

SPC Michael Mullins - so do you think this issue is creating a whole new breed of predators that have never been seen before? Or is it more likely that we have the same predators doing the same thing thry have always done and people are just now realizing it, because the media told them so?
