Once the results are in and the complaints settle down, I expect we'll return to discussing daily life, prayer for those in harms way or injured, military and VA benefits, jobs (or lack of), hunting, fishing, military history, etc. More "normal" discussion and less divisiveness, I hope.

Love the opinion...I just want a bit of perspective to see if it will be less or more political. It has become a guilty pleasure of mine to converse with our force and veterans about military topics.

I believe that I will continue to learn SOmething everyday, just as I have been doing. It is very interesting to me to hear other folks thoughts on various topics.

I've been on here for a couple of years now, and the pattern has been that political discussions will come and go with the election cycles. Over the next few months, I suspect it will get more heated politically as the election nears, but that the politics will subside after the election. Expect it to ramp back up again as the mid-term elections near. Some political topics tend to reappear on a regular basis, namely gun rights/control. Any time you see a shooting, expect it to quickly reappear in your feed.

I would say if Hillary Clinton become our 45th President most of the RP members will NOT be "Happy Campers" as a matter of fact will we be very concerned about the economy and our national security.
WikiLeaks has promised to dump more emails which could cause a lot of problems for her administration to deal with.

Question from a new user. What was this site like before, and what will it be like after the election?

I just don't think the voters will elect Trump but we don't know if more Clinton emails will be released which could devastate Hillary's campaign in October.

That's a helluva good question. There are so many things which attracted me to RallyPoint and then came THE ELECTION. You still see some of the good buried between the rants. A little humor. A little reaching out and connecting with former comrades. Some very good discussions about the problems with the VA. I really love it when some young NCO or shavetail reaches out with a question and we old timers jump in with advice. So, don't judge us by THE ELECTION. Please. It is merely an obsession of the moment, one that you can't escape anywhere, can you?

I think it will be much the same as before the election, COL Lee Flemming. The conservatives will still be conservative and the liberals will still be liberal. Depending upon who wins, one group may be more frustrated than the other!

COL Lee Flemming, I think the political "back and forth" will continue, but to a lesser degree, since the election will have been decided. I think there will be then an increase in looking at and into service member issues.

But how can someone so obviously flawed remain politically viable?? My guess is she is protected by the both the Liberal Media and the Liberals in congress. We elected her husband who was also flawed so that proves to me at least we get what we deserve.

Sir if politics aint your bag--and I'm not a big political commentator myself--please do not feel that there is no place for you here. So many posts on RP are about military experiences, military/veteran topics, and questions that can find no better source for answers/opinions.

Politics I'm sure was a part of RP from Day 1 as it will be on the site's final day, but this being an election year, politics will simply be a more common topic of discussion. I found that unlike most other social media sites, even the most politically passionate RP members aren't often so worked up as to be borderline psychotic with one another. Sometimes the abusive do rear their ugly heads, but it's not as bad here as you'll generally find elsewhere. Once this political season mercifully ends, political topics will fade somewhat in terms of numbers of posts, and perhaps in intensity.

In my personal opinion, the site was much more friendly before they moved to the new format. Before you could post your experiences and share war stories and such. Now, it's focused purely on the almighty 'Question', which seems to have some hidden metric that needs to be met before it meets site approval. It makes posting your personal experiences and such to the larger 'question' audience (because links and updates only go to YOUR contacts) problematic, at best.

Worse...and getting worse!!! A very sizable majority of questions/posts run the gamut from totally moronic to incredibly obtuse. Spelling and grammar tend to be frightfully overlooked or non-existent skills. Peruse the board everyday and prove me wrong.

The only thing that will change is that the discussions will be about the new occupant while in office, just as before this election. it will be a target rich environment in either instance. BTW, there is a means of excluding political discussions, if that is an issue. Lots of other "stuff" being discussed.
