What article from your military career would you put in the RallyPoint time capsule? TA-50, war trophies, souvenirs, etc. I'm starting with a dehydrated pork patty from the old dark brown MRE's. In 50 years, it will taste the same.

I got to keep my aid bag from my 1st Deployment (pictured), and my plate carrier from my 2nd Deployment (pictured, but without plates). I also a thinner M-9 coyote dismount aid bag from my 1st and 2nd deployments (Currently in the trunk of my car).
I also have a Trauma Roll up bag, but my mom uses it for cosmetic's categorization. I laugh every time I go home and see it hanging on the back of her closet door filled with cosmetic products.
Got a bunch of P-Mag's, 9 mil holster's, Drop Leg Medical pouches, Misc Medical Equipment, Oakley gloves/eye wear, wiley x gloves/eye wear etc...

It has been through a lot, and everything on it has a story.... But the funniest story is how I got it. I missed plate carrier issue before deployment because I was doing some Medic Training, so for the first part of my deployment, I had to use an IOTV.
About a month or so into the deployment, my PSG walks into our Platoon CP, and hands me a brand new plate carrier, still in the plastic. He told me not to ask any questions, and not to tell anyone I got it from him, and not to turn it in. I assumed it was "hot", but I needed it more then whomever it used to belong to. I was senior medic on the QRF.
The rest of that stuff on there I was either just handed, traded something for, or was "gifted" it by my friends at my BMSO or my friends in the upper echelons of Supply.
As an OPCON/Attatched soldier, my organic unit and attached unit would kind of play "hot potato" on who has to spend their unit fund's to get me equipment. The HHC I was in was usually broke because the battalion staff would order fancy stuff. My other unit would turn me away back to HHC. Lol I was like a kid with 2 set's of parents. They only time either company didn't try to pawn me off on the other was on the Urinalysis Days. Lol.
Fun times, what that kit has been through though is a story for another day though. Thanks for asking, those memories brought a smile to my face.

I continue to use my 90'-era pistol belt at work. I hang my tool pouch off of it. I have some interesting stuff in my basement that I have acquired. I have a Vietnam-era steel helmet, ammo pouches and canteen covers. I have a full set of charcoal MOPP gear (minus the mask of course) from the early 2000s and two Kevlar helmets. However, my favorite item is a full field mess kit complete with utensils.

MREs have a shelf life and can go bad prior to the expiration date. Be sure to eat them where you have some lighting so you can check for discoloration. I've had my Africa locations contact me about their MREs turning green, literally, asking for guidance on what to do with them. Ummmm...Throw them away!!!???

We were digging foxholes up in Wash State and I just happened to hit an old foxhole full of the old canned food dating back to 1971, being we hadnt eaten for a few days I ripped into a can of fruit cocktail from 1972, still nice and fresh and tasted awesome !!! we ate like kings in that fox hole !!! some cans were rusted pretty bad, the ones we ate we checked for visual and smell, am still here so it didnt bother us.

I had a can of Ham and Eggs, Chopped that I carried around in my car for years just in case I ever got stranded somewhere and was starving to death. I think I would rather chew my own arm off than eat that though.

The one thing that would HAVE to be in the time capsule would be the WOOBIE! I only see two problems with that though...
1. Who is going to give up a woobie for a time capsule?
2. The woobie will in all likelihood still be loved and used by many in 50, or even 100 years!

Yes SGT (Join to see) , we had no other way of affixing the brassard to BDUs back in the day. When wearing Class "B" you could, but not with the combat uniform, so yes a safety pin!
