Scott Walker bashed for not having a college degree, called "Unknowledgeable".

There has been a few post on RP about college educations and what they can do for you in life. But do you think it is fair to say someone is unknowledgeable to be president with no college degree? Should a college degree be a requirement to become President?
Her is a little Excerpt from Howard Dean from MSNBC's Morning Joe:
DEAN: The issue here is not just an issue of dancing around the question of evolution for political reasons, the issue is how well educated is this guy? And that's a problem.
SCARBOROUGH: Are you serious?
DEAN: I am absolutely serious.
DONNY DEUTSCH: He didn't finish his senior year so he didn't get all that stuff.
SCARBOROUGH: Are you serious? You're saying he might not be qualified because he didn't finish college?
DEAN: I think there are going to be a lot of people who worry about that.
SCARBOROUGH: Do you worry about people that don't finish college?
DEAN: I worry about people being President of the United States not knowing much about the world and not knowing much about science. I worry about that.

DEAN: Harry Truman, who was a great president, there's no question about it.

DEAN: I think Bill Gates is a little different -- nobody is accusing Scott Walker of having the intellect of Bill Gates.

DEAN: I didn't say dumb, I said unknowledgeable.

I just consider the source.
I am not a fan of college education anyway. I only did it because there was literally nothing else I was suited to at the time.

That is very true after all it is Howard Dean! But i do think his detractors will use it against him. It's the only thing they have to use right now.

That's a really interesting question.

It's a mixed bag, really. I think the measure should be how much one VALUES education vs how much formal education one actually has. Anti-intellectualism is just as bad as ivory tower thinking.
I personally found a college education extremely helpful in tackling complex problems. On the other hand, I respect my dad's wisdom more than most men's and he's a college dropout working in a field that he has no formal training in.

More liberal hypocrisy. I guess it's OK for Obama to seal his college records so nobody can see them, yet criticize a conservative for not having a degree.
Give me common sense and demonstrated performance over a college degree any day. Scott Walker without a college degree has proven to be a much better leader than Obama, with his alleged Ivy League credentials.

Killary Hillary Clinton has a college degree from an ivy league school and she got a lot of people killed and deceptively blamed it on terribly made racist skit. Having a college degree is a foundation to build on just like a HS diploma or a GED. Also, having a college degree does not take the place for experience, intelligence or common sense. When every someone fails, does someone say, "Well he did have a college degree so I don't know what happened"?

Just because a person does not have a college degree does not make him any more knowledgeable or not. College degrees are nice but where in any laws or constitutions does it state that a governor or any elected official needs a degree it does not. I finally got my degree for personal and professional reasons not because I needed it. You can be the smartest person in your class but come to common sense you have nil.

You are right we have all seen well educated but no common sense. I believe Gov Walker would be a good consideration for a Presidential candidate.

The unions in Wisconsin tried to destroy him with a recall after he won in the 2010 election. And he won again obtaining more votes than he had in the original race. He also won reelection for a second term in 2014. He is the only governor in the U.S. to date to win a gubernatorial recall election.

At some point, experience becomes equivalent to the bachelors degree. I've known 20 year production technicians that have to hand hold degreed engineers because they have no real world experience. Our company has positions that we prefer a degree but we do not automatically exclude someone for consideration because they do not have one. Hire/promote someone with a proven track record of success rather than just the education. the schools only hit the surface of knowledge required. Just like in combat, the real "depth" comes in the field. As far as Scott Walker, he fought a lot of uphill battles but was probably the first state to get back in the black and return the surplus to his citizens (based on what the media said). I wouldn't think twice about voting for him regardless of the lack of academic credentials. The smartest man I ever knew was my grandfather who had only an 8th grade education but owned several businesses that prospered. My dad worked his way up from Stock boy to VP of his company with a high school diploma.

Howard Dean is funny
Billionaire Theodore Waitt, founder of Gateway Computers, Billionaire Steve Wozniak, co-founder of Apple, and Billionaire Larry Ellison, co-founder of Oracle software all dropped out of college.
Call them outliers if you want Mr. Dean. They're still all billionaires and I think they might know a thing or two.
