Should RallyPoint Web designer consider adding a Section in the Profile for Military Awards for both military personnel and civilian personnel?

Do you think RP members will be honest for the most part and only add those they actually received?
(or)
Do you think some RP members will add awards they didn't actually receive?
(or)
Do you think there is no need for another "love me" section on the profile?

Please vote and provide your thoughts?

Mine wouldn't take up much space. There was a time in our military that we didn't get participation awards. :)

SSG Warren Swan It was just a question to get feedback - I always respect your feedback Warren - thanks! For me personally, I don't think RallyPoint could handle this addition, because it would be an additonal step to verify the information when we verify accounts with the DD Form 214s (which is a volunteer operation by volunteer admins already). I's be okay eithe way, not doing it and doing it, because I would be truthful in addign my awards over 37 years. Again, it was just a question to create discussion and with the following stats it did:

MCPO Roger Collins - I'm in that PT 109 boat with you. Good conduct and national defense service medals with ribbons. Many of these service ribbons awarded today did not exist when we served in the military so we are not eligible to have them even though we earned some of them. U.S. Army 1968-1971.

We are who we are and we lose sight of different views when we judge those of lower rank or awards right off the bat. Experience is one thing but we all know awards are not always going to the right people and the longer your in the more PCS and deployment (your rank equals this award) situations. Again I do think experience is another thing and something that just highlights your positions, deployments and previous locations would be good.

Not only will there be a propensity of integrity violations, but I don't see a necessity - although, it would be nice, for an awards section.

I'm sure someone has this slide it had ribbon like my daddy is a general Ribbon or it had a ribbon of people with a martini glass for how many DUI's you had this slide a scoop of ribbons and came out in the 90s please somebody posted I don't have it anymore it's pretty funny. Another award I remember in this parody was I never got an award ribbon. Please I'm sure some of you in the California Army National Guard remember this from the nineties but I'm sure it was all over the Internet and in Powerpoint.

We already have fakers on here, so one more thing to fib on...meh.

The volume of award bashing posts on RP indicate that it will be another thing to bitch about. Whatever, figure it out amongst yourselves, going to get a beer from the fridge.

LTC Jason Mackay Yes, you're right we do and we try very hard to blow those profiles off the site Jason. Its always work in progress. I respect your feedback partner! I was just thinking outside the box for some enhancement ideas for RP. It is what it is!

COL Mikel J. Burroughs - I wouldn't be disappointed in its addition, and I would use it. It is just the very vocal complaints about award equity, when people paint with a broad brush, it diminishes the value of that award for people the pundits have never even met. I know when people ask about my awards (when I am wearing them at a school on Veterans Day or during Memorial Day observances etc) it is a platform for me to talk about the sacrifice of my soldiers and the accomplishments of the units I served in. It is not really about me. If we could leverage that spirit in its addition I think that would add value to RP.

In the past 3 weeks it has occurred to me that I am now retired and can say what ever the F I want (in general). No offense intended toward you COL Mikel J. Burroughs . Nothing but respect for you.

PO3 John Wagner - I get THAT! As you say my gay friends even say "that's gay". I do feel that part of this discussion began to sound like how "decorated can you make yourself look", and that was where the above response came from, which may have "offended" some. I actually thought it was funny, so maybe I should "redact" (or edit) my comment?! ;)

Deborah Gregson - Don't give it a second thought. One nice thing on this forum is that you can see a conversation develope and sometimes, if the participants on both ends are grown ups, you can watch an arguement become heated and then resolve itself. Very cool....(and not a bit GAY). Lol

Thanks for assuming the intent, but you're 100% wrong. In the film, he's just had his arm broken for refusing to give in to the other driver's French ways, then says the room is spinning from all his gayness whereas we - the audience - know it's from the injury. I mentioned it because the last time medals or awards were brought up and I participated in the conversation I was accused of just about everything negative under the sun due to the fact that I think they're stupid. Rather than admit I am put off by the topic of awards or other nonsense decorations, it's intended to point back to the people bringing it up.

But thanks for thinking you know everything, Deborah.

SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL I agree there would be some, but there is a lot of information now on RallyPoint that isn't verified. I would hope for the most part everyone (the majority) would be honest and have the integrity to present their actual awards correctly. I always like to think the best of my brothers and sisters first!

COL Mikel J. Burroughs well said and eloquently expressed. It would definitely add a new dimension to the RallyPoint Nation and enhance camaraderie. What's the next step to get this initiative started? I am on board! Hooohaa!

I help admin the Airborne group on Facebook. We have two gentlemen who have access to running names through the system and verify they are legitimately airborne qualified. I'm sure there could be a way for RP to run questionable looking names/awards etc. there is a registry of all high ranking awards and those should be very easily vetted.
