CPO Joseph Grant. When I was much younger just enough to get by . . . though I visited a few guys here and there who not only copied code . . . but recorded soviet test vehicle downlinks . . . they got real quiet whenever a test vehicle downlink transmitter failed to start sending on launch. . . apparently everyone thought this may be the first sign of a live bird during initial boost phase. Warmest Regards, Sandy
I think we got us a Ditty Chaser here? No! Sorry Chief, I'm nothing but an O Brancher.

Sorry, Chief, I was a non-communications interceptor. I went to school at Ft Devens with hogs (05H) & deltas (05D).

I copied code when I was on Ballistic Missile Subs, I left the code copying to the R branchers when I was on Fast Attacks.

Thanks PO1 William "Chip" Nagel! I was thinking computer code. But still how does one "copy" Morse code or is that a reference to scribing it?

When I was in, Copying Code meant "Scribling" Transcribing Morse Code. One of the Skills Necessary of a CTR. They would "Copy" it and then hand it off to an O-Brancher like to to send to CINCPACFLT, Washington, DC or wherever for further analysis. As an O-brancher I only had to be able to type 30 wpm to pass school and 35 wpm to make E-6 on a Mod 28 Electro Mechanical Teletype and Read Baudot Code off a Paper Tape at 50 Characters per minute but Thank God I didn't have to "Copy Code".
