Post Update (20 Feb 2020): I have enjoyed reading everyone's comments!

FREE SPEECH is NOT Dead or at best NOT YET Illegal!!! Adults are responding in this post - EXCELLENT! Some are whining! ~2/3's overall per the poll still believe SOTH was disrespectful at some level.

POTUS did have a bit of a chip on his shoulder, for not shaking SOTH hand when extended.

Some seemed to forget former President Clinton's own avoidance of military service (aka deferments) as they excoriated Trump for his deferments - Humm?

The Congress & POTUS need to quit excessive Tweeting and GET TO WORK for "We the people...." Cut the BS!!!

All in All , instructive post! Of course some will defend POTUS regardless, others will defend SOTH regardless.

Some of the adults that responded slammed them both and provided balanced responses that took a deeper critical look! You know who you are! Thank you!
----------------------------------
Post Update (12 Feb 2020): Please see my response to SGM(P) (Join to see)'s wise words in this post! Some might just be - surprised!
------------------------------------------
Original Post

Background: By now the world is a buzz with what took place at the end of the SOTU by POTUS and the "ripping" by the SOTH at the end of the speech.

Discussion: While I can respect the opinion of Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia to recommend centure (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qPr2EodEAdU), I and many believe that the SOTH's behavior last night is worthy of the SOTH's own centure! The lack of leadership of the SOTH in the 'ripping up" of the SOTU address on live TV is shameful.

It makes NO different if you are RIGHT, CENTER or LEFT. The disrespect shown is not a sign of defiance of this POTUS or solidarity with her party. It is an open attack against "We the people....." As an Independent, I have not always agreed with POTUS on some issues, but that does not mean I will not show the Office of POTUS its proper due, regardless of who hold the office!

I have as does the SOTH the right to "respectfully disagree" as guaranteed under the 1st Amendment; however, as the SOTH the "ripping behavior" boarders on behaviors that reminds me of someone desiring to insight insurrection, but not be held accountable for the actions they transmit.

Recommendation: While the "majority members" of the House will not centure their own Speaker, perhaps the Senate might, in order to send a message to centure the SOTH for such a tantrum during the SOTU!

So my question is this:

Was the behavior of the SOTH a sign that the current SOTH as of Feb 2020 lacks both the maturity and leadership grit to behave in a manner worthy of that office as 3rd in line to be POTUS?

After the fake 4f Blowhard disrespected a Decorated P.O.W. I never listened to a word he said after that. Most everyone who has strapped on boots knows to disrespect a POW is as disgusting an act as can be committed. No one can determine what is necessary to make it through torture or what must be done to survive for years on end. Any one can talk a mouthful of shit without having been in the hot seat. Even Adolph Hitler strapped up boots and walked the walk.

I don't have much respect for the man or his methods but when I look at what is being offered as an alternative I'm afraid I may actually have to vote for him. It is not a Trump v Biden contest. It is the US as we have known it and a government run by the likes of Bernie Sanders, AOC, the squad and democrats who believe that what has been going on in Seattle, Portland, Oakland, NYC and other US cities are "PEACEFUL PROTESTS". peaceful protestor do not attack the police with M-80s, water bottles, clubs. "PEACEFUL PROTESTORS" do not attempt to burn down and/or loot public and private property.

Samantha S. - When 1LT John Lisovitch said, "Footage Shows President Trump Mocking The National Anthem During Super Bowl LIV." you said, "your commentary is extraneous".

Dishonoring the Flag or our National Anthem is not extraneous. Especially when you opened the door by saying, "I started every school day facing the American flag with my right hand over my heart reciting the words to the Pledge of Allegiance."

First, to correct a misapprehension about the video clip. It must have been recorded in "selfie" mode. I call your attention to the fact that, not only does Melania appear to have her left hand on her right side, so does Baron(?) on the other side of the President. The clincher is the Flag lapel pin he always wears on his left lapel: it appears to be on his right lapel.

However, even if it were true that Melania and Baron were BOTH dissing the Flag and National Anthem, and, by some stretch of your imagination, you believe that Pres. Trump stuck his lapel pin on the wrong lapel, it would still be true that neither Melania nor Baron is the President!

It is inescapable that Donald Trump, the President of the United States of America, in the presence of a room full of rich and powerful American and foreign business people, acted shamefully. A gathering which included his foreign-born wife and his teen-age son.

I am disgusted. I don't understand how any Veteran, especially a Vietnam Vet, cannot be at least mildly nauseated by his actions.

With all due respect, Chief, your premise is ridiculous. Let's focus on the real outrage: locking children in cages, lying 16,000+ to the American public, disgusting disrespect to women, minorities, our active duty military and veterans, other countries, etc. The list is long and shameful.
Please get real, folks. While I didn't like what Nancy Pelosi did, it is not something for which any serious person would ever recommend censure. POTUS just escaped justice in the Senate because of 52 cowardly Senators who put their allegiance to a President who would be King above their oath before God, to support and defend the Constitution, and our country.
Do me a favor, though: if you want to censure the Speaker for this petty, albeit relatively benign, act, please admit that our president needs to be censured - OFTEN - for his many offenses and crimes. There is no other way to argue the point of censuring Speaker Pelosi, which is IMO, killing an ant with a sledgehammer.

SSG Robert Perrotto - I See in his reply Greg gave you the response to the wrong stay. In his defense there are quiet a few Stays, 9th Circuit Appeals cases being appealed, and emergency request for SCOTUS to hear in regards to the current Boarder situation. However the case you're referring to is actually the ACLU's requested injunction of The Migrant Protection Protocols.

On April 8th 2020 the SCOTUS ruled against the ACLU in this case 5-4. So it's actually the ACLU request that was put on hold, to give them time to prepare an appeal. If SCOTUS refuses to hear the appeal, then the stay goes away, and the injunction is will be in place permanently. The 5-4 decision does indeed give an indication of a position that the Court will take if the case is brought back before them.

Additionally, "the court on a 5-to-4 vote in January allowed the administration to begin implementing new “wealth test” rules making it easier to deny immigrants residency or admission to the United States because they have used or might use public-assistance programs."

He blocks anyone who disagrees with him under the guise of gamesmanship, gentlemanly behavior, or their profanity may have hurt dainty sensitivities (meanwhile he's not apposed to using profanity or throwing insults in his responses. Hypocrite).

He'll debate people for a while. But his MO is once it goes on longer than he has the ability/energy to respond and they successfully counter his arguments, he block them and pouts. Yet he'll still debate them via other peoples post. He'll third party debate people. He just won't allow responses to him via direct post once he blocks people, it's very immature, and childish. However it shows his insecurities in his own knowledge, intellect, education, and ability to argue his personal opinion. Most of his post are tirades of gibberish talking down to who he's talking to followed by case law paste but not his breakdown , opinion or personal feeling on the matter.

Graduated but still a clerk, pretty weak.

I go from sad to incredibly pissed off as scary how many joined or were drafted that appear to hate the once very heralded American Dream along with being a Patriot was far from a dirty word. Gates and his fellow Billionaires Boy Club had already plotted and sorted the Planet and then came Preeeeeeeeeesident Trump and thank God he did as the Clintons would have buried all proof from not only themselves but the cohorts in all our Security Agencies meant to keep us safe. The betrayals, manipulations, and treachery can only stop once the perps are properly brought to justice and punished. I pray for President Trump as his enemies are obviously powerful and far-reaching. God Bless America and thank you all Patriots for holding that torch.....

It is called frustration - Pelosi and her Party have done everything they can to fight President Trump, and not only have they failed, they watched as his popularity increased to 49% during this whole charade. PO2 Phil M - Looks like someone needs to stick with Google Searches because his "Law Degree" has fail him. Good thing Texas A&M can't repossess his head for not pay attention in class or issuing a defective product.

Although these terms are popular among lawyers and scholars, neither "hostile work environment" nor "quid pro quo" are found in Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits employers from discriminating on the basis of race, sex, color, national origin, and religion. In fact I challenge anyone to show me the statute that says "quid pro quo" is Illegal. When you haggle for a car it's a form of "quid pro quo" most things we do in business deals and politics have elements of "quid pro quo." It's not against the law.

UNT Cop Fired After Blogging From Work
January 28, 2011 - The Officer is from the Dallas area and has a similar name to one of our Bloggers. Maybe its a different person IDK. https://www.ntdaily.com/51104/

By Josh Pherigo / Managing Editor –

A veteran UNT police officer has filed an appeal after he was fired in December on accusations that he violated the university’s computer-use policy.

UNT Dallas Police Coordinator Gregory J. Prickett, a 20-year member of the department, was placed on administrative leave in October while investigators looked into complaints that he had blogged and edited Wikipedia articles at work.

In a three-page complaint submitted to UNT on Oct. 1, Hugh McBryde, a long-haul truck driver from Missoula, Mont., details the escalation of an online feud between himself and a blogger he said he believed to be Prickett.

McBryde alleges Prickett used a variety of pseudonyms to harass him and defame his character after the two men quarreled on various online forums over the legality of a 2008 law enforcement raid on the Yearning for Zion Ranch in Eldorado, Texas.

McBryde’s complaint states that a blogger using the screen names “GregJackP” and “TXBluesman,” among others, began posting online statements in August, warning “Past, Present and Future employers” not to hire McBryde because “he finds 7 yr old girls sexually attractive.”

McBryde said he decided to seek the identity of the anonymous blogger after he said he felt threatened when pictures of his grown daughter were posted to an online forum.

Prickett denies the allegations and said he has filed a Dallas County lawsuit against McBryde and several others whom he said have libeled him.

“Nothing that was in Hugh McBryde’s statement was true,” Prickett said. “He is trying to ruin my life.”

With help from several others, McBryde said he was able to track the Internet Protocol address from a comment “GregJackP” left in a Wikipedia discussion on global warming. The IP address was traced to a computer in the “security shack” on the UNT Dallas Campus, McBryde said.

Prickett said he occasionally browsed the Internet and used Wikipedia during his shift, but said UNT’s computer-use policy allows for incidental Internet use if it does not affect job performance.

“I’ve gotten the best performance reviews of my career since I’ve been in Dallas,” said Prickett, who once received a commendation for performing life-saving CPR when a man collapsed on campus. “I obviously haven’t done too bad a job.”

Prickett said he was not satisfied with the way the police department handled his investigation.

“I was surprised by how poor the investigation was. They didn’t do any background checks on McBryde,” Prickett said. “From the idea of the questions they were asking, it seemed like they were really just making a case against me.”

Police officials declined to comment because the investigation is still ongoing.

Prickett said if he could go back, he would have handled the situation differently.

“If I had to do it all over again, I would have never said a word,” he said. “I probably would have just kept my mouth shut because it’s been a great job with great people.”

Prickett said he is looking forward to the results of his appeal.

Denton Attorney Richard Gladden represented former UNT student Gus Elliott in a 2005 lawsuit against Prickett and another officer.

The lawsuit, which Prickett went on to win, stemmed from an incident in 2003.

Elliot received a chipped tooth and a cut on his chin that required stitches when he became involved in an altercation with the two officers during a traffic stop, Gladden said.

During the course of the suit, Gladden said he found himself the target of a character assassination attempt by a blogger on a law enforcement forum.

Under a pseudonym, which Gladden could not recall, the person posted information about criminal convictions Gladden had received years prior and called the attorney’s credibility into question, Gladden said.

Gladden said he believes the blogger was Prickett.

“It seemed to be a kind of immature way of dealing with the situation he found himself in,” Gladden said. “It’s the whole idea of him, rather than dealing with things in court, attacking my character anonymously on the Internet.”

When asked, Prickett said he had no knowledge of the incident.

CORRECTION: This article previously stated that UNT Dallas Police Coordinator Gregory J. Prickett received an accommodation instead of a commendation. The correction has been made.

PO2 Phil M LMAO you're Hilarious. Obviously you haven't read all the posts and threads on here before you piled on a month ago and didn't refamiliarize yourself before responding to me. My comment to you was from those post you made last month. You pretty much jumped into a thread where people were talking about quid pro quo. You said, "Because a crime was committed does NOT make it les of a crime." Quid pro quo is not a crime. If that was not what you wanted to be addressing then you shouldn't have jumped into that thread. Was it part of the original topic on the entire post? No. But it was the topic of this particular thread of the post.

Had you read the whole thread you'd know what I was talking about. One of the people you jumped on the bandwagon with is from Texas. So yeah it may not make sense to you but he'll understand. ;)

I am an independent. I voted for just as many republicans as a have democrats and voted off on green party and other parties when I didn't like either. I've voted for 2 Dems, 2 Reps 2 Ind, and skipped one election. Interesting you automatically assume I had a party affiliation. I'm totally against the two party system and hope for a strong 3rd party some day. IOT break the log jam...

You're a funny guy. Yes I remember The original title to the post. But like I said this was a separate thread. if you can't remember what thread you were addressing you should think or at the very least look before you leap/respond. Scroll up and read them all but thanks for giving me your opinion on my ignorance. I really value your personal insite to my knowledge or lack there of. Out of respect to you I'm sure I'll take it to heart from here on. ;)

PO2 Phil M I will give you that the 1st part of my thread response was more directed at the person you followed/jumped on with in the thread. So maybe that confused you (Since you didn't bother brushing up on the different thread topics). But the rest of my response was in reference to the thread. The thread topic was is Quid pro quo illegal. I was never I addressing Pelosi ripping up the speech or what should, shouldn't be done... That was not the topic of this thread. It is the Main Post's topic but not this thread's. Again thank you for pointing out my ignorance I will take that to heart in the future since I value your opinion so much. ;)
