Yesterday, Hitomi took me to the Pima Air Museum here in glorious Tucson. It's directly behind the Davis-Monthan AFB (the A-10 Graceland). For all you military history and aviation superstars, this thread is for you. I'll post them, you identify them. Extra points awarded if it was your aircraft. The rules are simple, there are none. Enjoy. Uncle Mark

SFC Mark Merino, a Grumman TBF Avenger, torpedo dive bomber! President Bush flew one in WWII!

SFC Mark Merino, this plane had a crew of three. The ventral (lower tail) gunner also served as the bombardier. He had a chair where the back could change from front to rear, whether he was in the gunner position or the bombardier position.

This one blew my mind. The exterior is canvas, and the interior reminds me of my first go-cart! Hint: This is the interior view of the nose.

SFC Mark Merino, landing in one of these things was very dangerous. Many serious injuries, up to and including death occurred upon landing, which was usually a crash landing.

If you get the chance, it is south of Portland,Ore. Evergreen is the helicopter firm. They have a fantastic aviation museum. Spruce Goose is there.

Military Aviation Trivia:
1:) What do the numbers on the forward cowling signify?
2:) There are a standard amount of numbers that identify every aircraft in the armed forces. How many numbers, and what do they mean?

This is actually an "Oscar." It was used by the Japanese Army, whereas the vast majority were in the Imperial Navy.

I loved going to that place, next time we go we are going to do the whole tour as we did just the inside part the Bomber Building and also the Space building! We also did the DM Boneyard tour that was pretty neat! I did see an OV10 Bronco outside the main building that I actually worked on "years Ago"

Japanese submarine I 52. One of only 3 ever made and the largest and most advanced of it's time. This submarine has been searched for more than any other. After all, how many enemy subs go down with 2 1/2 TONS of gold!!! They finally found it (3 miles down), and recovered one box. Upon reaching the surface, they opened it and found it full of opium. They are raising funds to retrieve the $25 million bounty.

I don't know how they got it, but they got it. CPT Willard's tiger stripe uniform and a certain "LTC"'s long board.

SFC Mark Merino, jumped many Hueys, but all were skydives at Fort Rucker! No Army static line jumps for me from a Huey, believe it or not!
