I don't know if this is my favorite, but I just discovered this memorial to those KIA in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Sorry for it being upside down. This is the rock right in front of the dog tag display in 1LT Nathan Band's picture up above.

It is an experience everyone needs to be a part of - here was the one with my Dad June 7th, but it won't be the last! I'm going to take my daughters there to show them where I'll be buried one day!

Great question COL Mikel J. Burroughs. Personally I like the Three Soldiers statute next to the Vietnam Memorial, in fct I have a copy of it on my desk. Where is that one you included? I have not seen it but it speaks a million words!

Striking memorial. I was stationed at Bethesda when it was dedicated. My roommates and I had gone in to Georgetown to party a bit and decided to trek over and see it on that day. Needless to say our mood changed and we went home.

Back then you'd find ribbon bars, copies of old military manuals, etc laying at the feet of these Soldiers.

There is an intimacy that hits you when you are 1st with these bronze Marines. It's personal and somehow completely natural for them to be there as if the always had been there.
Thanks, Col. I think the mall should be required pilgrimage for all Americans..

Great pictures...for me this was memorable (Marine Corps War Memorial) as I saw inscribed in the marble where I served (Somalia). The other was at Camp Murray, WA (JBLM) with the Minuteman in Seahawks jersey...
