I received a couple invitations to join RallyPoint last year but didn't act on it until this year. I joined based on an invitation and have stayed because of the on-line friendships and communications. Sometimes I agree with posts and sometimes I don't; but, I have been favorably impressed with the respect that RallyPoint members usually display for each other and the quality of the discussions.
Does anybody know what happens when a person leaves RallyPoint? I expect their member number is "retired."
The easiest way to find your member number is on your profile page - the URL at the top includes RallyPoint member number -- military specialty.

Frankly, I get sick of talking with civilians and need to talk to veterans and service members.

SFC Mark Merino  I don't remember how I got here.  I don't even know if I was in the first 1,000.  My guess is I wasn't.  I used to think that here I could fellowship with others with similar backgrounds and not have the drama.  HA HA HA!  There is quite the drama on here about the Duggar guy.    I do enjoy all of the not so serious conversations that I think you had been the ring leader of.  The meme competition was awesome.

I remember thinking the same thing. That was short lived. Now there is too much drama. Might as well go back to hanging out on facebook. They have cool games, and I don't get tagged every 10 minutes because someone gets their feelings hurt or doesn't say something ultra PC. Back when there was no "waving the flags of oppression and intolerance" and shoving genetalia and orientation status in everyones face.

How dare you say such non-PC things. I'm offended because I'm a male-identifying lesbian trapped in a mans body! It's my Constitutional right to have VA-sponsored surgery to change my genitals into female ones so they can then make the proper transition into manhood.

#667 here

I received an invitation and thought it would be a good idea to sign up.

Mostly I stay because I like offering the occasional bit of advice from an old Soldiers point of view and I can say things that an Active Duty SM can't.

Proudly holding the #607. I came on right after LTC Yinon Weiss & CPT Aaron Kletzing. It's been amazing to see us grow close to 700K members in just a couple of years!

What drew you to join RallyPoint and what keeps you here? How many of the first 1,000 members are still here?

I'm in the over 200K crowd.

The being with military folks who know the drill, did the ruck march and just "get it" is what got me in the door and has kept me here. It's so true that, "There's damn few of us left" Everyone around me save for fellow vets doesn't know where I'm coming from sometimes (not that I do all the time either) to include friends I've had since middle school.

CPL Donald White, RallyPoint was founded in 2012 by two military veterans at Harvard Business School to help make military life better. In 2012, RallyPoint won the world's largest startup competition (MassChallenge), and placed 2nd in the Harvard Business School Business Plan Competition. RallyPoint was first developed at the Harvard University Innovation Lab and now remains in the Boston area. Info provided by SFC Mark Merino

I am in total agreement with you MAJ Robert (Bob) Petrarca. Not only that they can't relate to me but I can't relate to them nor do I want to. It appears to me that most civilians just seem to float through life without a care in the world hiding behind the walls that shield their fantasy world that they created to hide from the sometimes harsh realities of life blaming others for the misfortunes that come their way. While the other half of them stay angry they know they are fkd up yet they have the inability to take responsibility for their actions or admit their cognitive process is seriously lacking. All that anger gets channeled into saving a tree or passing dumb laws that prevent a parent from disciplining their children for fear of inprisonment. I actually joined Rally Point in hopes of finding a friend that I served with in Korea and stayed because of the friendships that I have formed and the comoradery. I am back at home with "Family"

I am also in complete agreement with you MAJ Robert (Bob) Petrarca. It is great having a website where you can network with folks that have gone through the same trials and tribulations that you have. We can all share our experiences and learn from each other.

Truthfully, well I kept seeing all these discussions popping up in my Facebook news feed from fellow service members liking or commenting on the Facebook thread. At first I would start commenting on the Facebook post but then I quickly learned that quite frankly I didn't give two $@!&$ about some civilian's opinion on a topic completely unrelated to them. I wanted to share my opinion with those that understood and that it directly influenced. The reason it took me so long to join is that I was a little leery of joining a community that just "anyone" can create an account, be unverified and still see/respond to discussions. However, now I have found myself quite addicted. :)

LTC Stephen F. What I meant was the Top 10 member numbers. I joined this year back in January and really had no idea that RallyPoint started just a few years ago. It would be interesting to see who has stayed and made the long haul so to say.

PO1 Jennifer Purcell, I know the program was in Beta mode in 2012 and kicked off in 2013 per email from one of the founders MAJ Yinon Weiss. I was interested that the founders member numbers are nor the first for instance Yinon's number is 604 his partners is 605 and Capt Brandon Charters is 607.
I suspect that numbers 1 through 603 were part of the beta test because I am connected with many of the earliest members. If that is true the first 10 would be members number 604 through 613.

PO1 Jennifer Purcell is is an assumption but I expect that anybody who joined after permitting in the beta period would have a number under 1,000. You could send a message to any of the following to see if they participated in the beta period: Capt Brandon Charters, number 607; SFC Keith Orr, number 667; 2LT Steven Santon, number 779; 818:COL Jason Smallfield, number 818; or LTC Jared Sloan, number 820

I just found this place and I love it. Its like Facebook for military. I like to share my opinion with others, my opinion that I couldn’t share as a specialist in the army and I can do that here. I am actually a smart person with good ideas that I think should be heard :-)

Was scrolling through facebook one day and someone shared a rally point discussion that i thought was interesting so i checked it out, wanted to comment but i needed an account so i made an account and stayed because of the interesting posts, the experience (lot of stuff i learned here that will help me down the line) and the respect given from one to another. It's not like Facebook where everything is drama. Much better here.

I kept seeing RP on my Facebook page and I liked the information that was being put out. This is very resourceful and you learn from other vets who are willing to share information on any and everything.
