I couldn't eat a banana for over 14 years after seeing that show. And now that it has been brought back up to my attention, it will probably be another 14 years. I remember hearing older marines say that it was the same Mamma san from when their dad's were there during the 60's, and I believed it. I mean shit, it was very plausible.

The pint sized bottle of Vaseline under a dust cover of a BCT Private. His response was that it was his battle buddies. And neither of them could explain the hole in the middle.

Blood trail from the Freezer in the Chow Hall to my Room in Adak, AK. Someone stole a half a Caribou and wanted to Frame me or my Roomate and Damn if I know why.

My husband loved it there. He still has friends that live there and wants to go for a visit. Me not so much.

My room while at Lejeune. Went away with some friends over the weekend and came back in the middle of the night and as soon as stepped in the room I could tell something wasn't right. Once I flipped on the lights I could see why, the entire sewage system for the barracks backed up and came in through the swear drains.
I had over and inch of waste on the ceiling, walls and floors. It was New Years weekend so no one from base maintenance was around and the OOD couldn't understand why I didn't want to sleep there.

I had an E8 instructor who apparently was too lazy to go to the latrine during the night so used the wastebasket! Needless to say, we relieved him of his duty.

Had a Joe piss hot and when his room got inspected the meth pipe he tried to hide on top of the rest of the trash in his trash can was discovered.

There have been some memorable sights. The one that sticks with me is the refrigerator had mold and the freezer was frozen shut. Yet the Soldier was not aware of it.

One place I was at had open/partition bunks. One guy had the worst smelling feet of all time. He didn't seem to ever do laundry either. One day a couple of my barracks mates grabbed the guy and tossed him in the shower to hose him off while others cleaned(G.I.'ed) his cubicle which reeked to high heavens. This guy was one unhappy, but cleaner, camper. He later called a taxi to use to go AWOL.

I went in my room one night and the smell of feet drove me out. This guy came in new and didn't clean up. We got rid of his butt the next day. God the smell was over powering.

Had a roommate that NEVER washed his uniforms. He'd just spray starch on them and iron them. The funky cloud of green steam/smoke that erupted when the iron touched the cloth would gag a maggot.

It wasn't a barracks but a college apartment. The university had houses they had bought for future expansion. They rented them to students. For a very small fee you could keep the apartment for the summer. A grad student did so. But, before she left she turned the refrigerator off. When she returned in the fall she called to have the refrigerator cleaned. Seems she had left meats etc there!
We told her we would not clean it. I got a call from the president of the university. When told him what she did he in turn told her that she would have to clean it.
Talk about an odor - THAT was BAD.

I know that odor. We had a guy with a frige full of halibut, that for whatever reason he cut the cord on the frige and all the fish thawed and rotted. It was horrible.
