Enforcing the laws of the land. What is the problem?
The doors are not shut to legal immigration, just illegal.
What is the problem with vetting those that want to come here?

Here is my two cents on the subject. First for the refugees like the one leaving Syria it is 6 months max not 24 months. I have several Iraqi and Afgan terps that come into my veterans office weekly and they say on average it take refugees 6 months. Syria right now is destroyed as everyone has seen on TV which means you "cant" vet those refugees because their place of business is most likely destroyed along with most police records and medical records. You also can't call their school teachers or neighbors anymore to vet.
As for the rest of the countries on the list:
Yemen - Currently fighting insurgents and they have fired on our destroyers twice and suicide attacked a Saudi cruiser.
Somalia - Blackhawk Down, also most of the American ISIS members are Somali refugees.
Iran - Known to fund terrorists and also illegally held hostage US Navy sailors over the summer.
Iraq - Still not a stable country and currently fighting ISIS inside their boarders.
Libya - Benghazi don't think we need to say anything else here.
Sudan - President of the country has two international arrest warrants out for him for thing like Genocide and other war crimes.

It seems to me, the question over the past twenty years has been more about immigration "enforcement" than it has been about immigration "laws". For years the laws did not change but the Executive department failed to enforce the laws. Rather than amend or repeal the laws, (to conform to the lack of enforcement), Congress did nothing. As our industrial economy faded, jobs became scarce and immigration shot to the forefront of US citizens' collective minds. The election hinged on enforcement versus lack of enforcement. In a closely decided election, the states (via the electoral college that ensures state rights) voted for enforcement. States with larger immigrant populations, like Illinois and California voted against it but lost the federal election. Now ... if the people wish to have more stringent immigration laws, then the Executive department will (and should) enforce those laws. If the people wish to have more relaxed immigration laws, then the Executive department will (and should) enforce THOSE laws. At least the issue of enforcement has been resolved. Do you agree?

It's nothing new the previous 3 Presidents had done similar things on immigration. President Trump is just trying to vet possible threats to our country. I think some people are just being vocal because who is saying this information. I think it's just common sense to screen people who are coming into our country especially from countries that don't like the USA.

Agree, but why not screen Muslims from Germany or Belgium? They've committed more terrorist acts against the west than those from the "restricted" countries.

POTUS has to start someplace. Also think what would happen if we opened our borders with no restrictions. Very soon we would be an overpopulated land of different "tribes" fighting for control. People would not assimilate into one , we would be worst than the worst third world country .
We as a civilized people have laws AGAINST child abuse, murder, and such. The Muslim religion have laws FOR these acts. Noone with even a 2 digit I.Q could approve of these "laws" as anything but sub-human.
All religions, as with governments, are for control. However the Muslim religion goes far beyond control, it is a cancer invented by a maniac that we, as a nation, must recognize as such and fight to eradicate it.

Contrary to all the hysteria, this is a 90 day pause to re-assess our vetting processes for receiving people from countries that have some combination of no functioning government / lawlessness, strong reasons to question the authenticity of travel documents, heavy presence of Islamic Extremists, come from state sponsors of Terrorism, or come from countries that continually remind us they are going to conquer the West. Long overdue.

COL John Hudson - The proposed (now stayed by federal court action) immigration ban was moronic, delusional, poorly considered, poorly written, and poorly implemented - and took no account of the extremely severe adverse impact on individuals, families, our national interests, and international reputation. Some people should be castrated or neutered, slowly dissected without anesthesia, and put to death for misleading our grand, glorious, devoted, and fearless leader into signing such an unreasonable exec order. These are my feelings - not a specific or concerted plan of any kind for taking action against anyone - merely emphasizing I am deeply and intrinsically opposed to surrendering our country to the tyranny of either the masses or a few advisors who feel committed to wrecking our foreign policy. Warmest Regards, Sandy :)

1LT Sandy Annala - President Trump does not have HIS OWN personnel.at the DOJ. The order was reviewed by OLC for legality. When the Democrat ACTING Attorney General tried go get political, insubordinate, on public TV, she got canned. Any GO would have sent an O-6 to count paper clips even faster.

Is the Lieutenant familiar with the McCarron-Walter Act of 1952. It's still on the books and could be used today to restrict immigration.

Well done, 5 attaboys, to be posted in pencil on the draft of your OER!
The story and video of that Egyptian radical flying to Paris and purchasing s
machete to chop Parisians into little parts should be required reading as a valid reason to conduct extreme vetting!

Sgt Efaw had earlier responded to me, stating "Given that I travel extensively for work and pleasure, I have yet to encounter a 'No-Go' or lawless zones either in the U.K. or any other EU state. " Perhaps he didn't read any of the local paper.. but here is a link to one such article. A Google or Bing search will show many such articles. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1574694/Bishop-warns-of-no-go-zones-for-non-Muslims.html
Bishop warns of no-go zones for non-Muslims
Islamic extremists have created "no-go" areas across Britain where it is too dangerous for non-Muslims to enter, one of the Church of England's most senior bishops warns.

I have no issues with a short term suspension of entrance requirements until we can get a handle on things. I don't agree with blocking those with valid visas, approved refuge status and so on as they have already been through the process. I think this is a case of good intent bad execution.

I agree. From what I've seen and heard the past couple of days the problems with the order have been straightened out for the most part. Hope the administration learns from this. Haste makes waste.

I think all valid visas from know terrorist producing counties should be looked at again. If individuals are traveling back and forth from any of these countries that support terrorism that should throw up a red flag too. I would rather offend a few thousand than bury any Americans.

SFC Jim Ruether - So why aren't we screening visas from France, Germany or Belgium? Those terrorists have done more to harm the west than those from any countries banned. Then there's Saudi Arabia which actually sent terrorists responsible for 9/11.

LONG OVER DUE LEADERSHIP
20 January 2017 reminded me of one of those days that only rarely happen in one’s lifetime.
President Donald J. Trump became the 45th President of the United States, and he is not waffling on his commitment to the citizens of the United States of America.
After only ten days in office, President Trump in my option has taken more positive reactions to combat the foreigners, foreign countries, and even our citizens than anyone since 911. America has changed since 911, and we let leadership convince us that they knew more than we about the changing demographics of America such as our borders being the busiest migration of humans whom we have no idea who they are. The “Rule of Law” does not apply to most of the people entering our country if somethings said about Vetting foreigners you're labeled as profiling or even a Racist or both.
People have to face the fact that other countries in most cases do not value life the way we do in America. I do not understand if Muslims believe in ideas that we have all seen them demonstrate. Such as stoning a person to death, cutting off their heads, hanging people or just plain killing each other at will, why we would not want to ensure that if a person comes into our country, they are not of these beliefs.
I have been to Ellis Island and stood were the people from all walks of life from around the world had traveled in conditions most of us wouldn't be able to do stand in lines waiting to become Americans.
To have stood there visualizing what these people went through is mind boggling, to say the least.
Is our government just supposed to let the non-United States citizens come into our country unvetted?
Senator McCain has nothing good to say about anyone you would think after twenty-eight years in national government would be first in line to make sure our country stays as safe as we can. Instead, he blasts President Trump just like he does everyone else if he does not get his way. Stop and think about it after 28 years and a failed run for President of the United States he would get the hint. Things happen very quickly in the world he is worth over ten million dollars, now ask yourself if you think he has our best interest at heart, I say “HELL NO.” !!
To date, President Trump has proved he is working to make America Great again just think if the powers to be in Washington D.C. would get behind President Trump and help him achieve that goal it would not take long to be a Great Country again. I wish we could charge the media with hate crimes they have lost all creditability in my opinion. We finally have a leader with a set of Balls, and it seems as if
President Trumps treated like trash.
Just think if these spineless weasels treated Obama like they treat President Trump we would be in the biggest race war in history.

This has been done by other administrations dating back at least 45 years and then some. But confining the conversation to recent events, yes, it is a good idea. First of all, Trump is carrying through on a campaign promise but more importantly is the fact that every sovereign nation has the obligation to protect its citizens. It also has the legal right to restrict, modify, cancel, revoke and refuse to issue a visa, transit document or travel documents at will and without cause or explanation. These same obligations and rights apply to all other countries of the world.
The world is not utopia. It is a dangerous place and becoming more dangerous all the time. The government is obliged to do everything to assure that anyone desiring to enter the US has been properly vetted INCLUDING holders of green cards if deemed necessary.
Contrary to the opinions of many this suspension is not discriminatory. It is common sense. It is prudent to periodically review procedures to effectiveness. A nation has the obligation to assure its citizens are being afforded all possible protections from an entity wishing to do us harm.

When you are in a hole what is the first thing you do...stop digging and try to figure a way out of it. That is what I see Pres Trump is doing. Stopping the digging and trying to figure a better way or a way out That is what I see with our immigration issues today. We have opened our doors so wide that anyone and everyone can come in unvetted. I have a serious problem with that. I have no problem with properly vetted folks coming in wanting a better life for themselves or for their families...that is what America is all about...heck we are all from immigrants of some kind unless you are native American. Just need to do it smartly.

True, both sides of the aisle agree that immigration is broken but answers have been few and far between. Don't ask, don't tell. Don't talk about it and it will go away. So is our security, somebody has to fix immigration and I applaud Trump for taking the first step.

LTC Andy Liebeknecht - Absolutely and if Americans would read the orders they would see that it is for 90 days so we can take a shot at figuring it out. All that got put out there (in my opinion from the Liberal Left) was a half truth stating Trump is keeping people from coming to America...the whole truth is he is keeping some away until they are vetted properly and it just isn't Muslims. People of any faith from the countries listed are on hold for a short period of time.
The memo state 90 days for visas and 120 for relook at refugees. Attached is the full memo from the White House.

On a very small scale, most people don't simply open the doors to their homes and allow people to come in unless they know the individuals, know they can be trusted, or have "reliable" information that the individual (s) can be trusted. To do so would be accepting unnecessary risk that an unknown person might harm you or your family. And while the implementation of the current temporary immigration ban on select countries was a bit heavy-handed, I personally support the intent, considering the previous administration was dependent on a poor or nearly non existent vetting system. Claiming to have vetted a refugee from a country where records are sketchy at best, and non existent in most cases, does not constitute "proper" vetting. Bottom line, a temporary ban on immigration until proper vetting procedures, can be put in place is appropriate and prudent. I don't care about "nice," I care about safety of my family and the country!!

LTC. Many wants no borders at all. Any nation that would go that far isn'the thinking of any security at all. I agree with President Trump, but they are fighting everything he tries to do. I have never seen this level of hate before and I am 77 rears old. Something could break out very easy. When people are beaten because they don"the like who you support is saying something about the other side. The wrong someone is going to be pulled out of a car and that someone will open fire. It is going to happen. All the Muslims that were allowed in have plans, that I do believe.
