Fort Leavenworth and the Army’s Combined Arms Center welcomed the post’s first Black commanding general this week, the Kansas City Star reported.

Yes and hopefully soon we can go back to promoting on quality and skills and not demographics.

MAJ Byron Oyler At the general officer, first you don't survive at that level based on demographics!Like it or not, the military operates on a up or out system.

SFC David Reid, M.S, PHR, SHRM-CP, DTM Unfortunately that is not entirely correct as since they took pictures off records there has been a decline in minority promotions. It is only going to get worse as for fear of being called a racist, I only push standards and accountability on people that look like me. At the end of my military career I had a very racist against white people hispanc staff member that was horrible in many aspects. She was very intelligent and I knew if I gave her the evaluation she deserved, I would be done for. Civilian employment would have been difficult to obtain. It bothers me greatly but I have three people that depend on me and they come before most everyone else.

I can see how this might make racist folks feel a little uneasy. They use particular language in these situations that they wouldn't use for a white person.
