I remember many years ago the buzz around North Carolina concerning some big scary muckedy muck crime figure from New York being imprisoned for life "next door to us'.
Butner Federal Prison is up the road twenty-five miles from me and Duke University Medical Center is twenty-five miles farther away than Butner. Duke University Medical Center sits directly in front of the Durham VA Medical Center.
I think it is interesting when one national news event points to a person, place, or thing that is taken for granted everyday.

Thank you, my friend PO3 Phyllis Maynard for making us aware that former Columbo family mob-boss Carmine 'The Snake' Persico died at Butner Federal Prison at age 85.
His death was confirmed
He was serving a combined 139-year sentence after being convicted of leading a vast and violent criminal enterprise.
