An old friend of mine was murdered while he was an infantry 1st Sergeant for C Company, 3rd Battalion, 327th Infantry. George Brewster was killed on October 22, 1992 at Fort Campbell, KY because of something that happened on maneuvers SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL,
My blood boiled when I read that the death of SPC Kevin J. Rodriguez was preventable. Most deaths are preventable. This was premeditated murder.
It is unconscionable for a soldier to kill another soldier. Leadership is accountable for the brass and ammo check. However the murdered knew what he was doing and I expect he would have gotten around any brass and ammo check.
Background: I left Fort Campbell in June 1975 and was assigned to USMAPS afterwards. When I was at Fort Campbell as a combat engineer many of the soldiers were draftees. Our field exercises were rough. When OPFOR infantry soldiers approached at night star clusters and flares were fired at ground level and captured soldiers were beaten on both sides. It kept us on our toes and nobody was killed
However every week it seemed a helicopter would explode as it hit a power line or large tree at night. Years later I learned that the special operations aviation regiment was training up in those days.
May God have mercy on the member of the armed forces of the USA, their families and veterans and I pray the murders by soldiers and veterans will stop soon.

I find this disgusting on so many levels. First by their horrible leadership that failed these soldiers on several areas and by the soldier that ditched the magazines after he fired live rounds.

Hello LT Rosa! You are right concerning these situations and we all fail, if we do nothing or take accountability for our actions.
