Many of the burn victims were held at Triplet Army Medical Center in Hawaii until they were fit to transport to CONUS. I was XO of the company there at the time and had to deal with a corpsman who was harassing them. The chief of the neuro-psychiactric ward had been preventing courts martial for offenders (they needed help not punishment). We sneaked this miscreant In for evaluation while the chief was at lunch. I then had h transported to the stockade at Scofield with an armed escort. I had the sergeant get a .45 from the armory and I loaded it while the corpsman watched bug-eyed. I then handed it to the sergeant with instructions to shoot the bastard if he blinked. Word spread quickly through the company and it was amazing to see how discipline returned

A little over the top, but effective. Nice job.

CPT Jack Durish, SGT David A. 'Cowboy' Groth, shooting the corpsman would have been over the top, but the way it was handled was perfect.
