In the wake of Nixon’s resignation, Congress reduces military aid to South Vietnam from $1 billion to $700 million. This was one of several actions that signaled the North Vietnamese that the United States was backing away from its commitment to South Vietnam.

We taught them to fight as rich man's war, then cut off their supplies and blamed the Vietnamese soldiers for not being willing to fight. Liberals never change, and are always a threat to American and world peace and security.

Capt Seid Waddell - The RVN troops were ready, willing, and committed to fight . . . but the US Congressional Traitors cut their legs out from under them (cutting funds for equipment, supplies, and training) and we cherry picked to take away essentially all the entire upper class academic, political, and military leaders to our country - leaving the RVN troops with rare exception fighting for a country with no leadership and no future. What is left to defend when pretty much the entire leadership team skips the country? Warmest Regards, Sandy :)

This was an indication that we were not honoring our commitments to our allies and in fact were acquiescing to the aspirations of the communists in China nd North Vietnam SP5 Mark Kuzinski. Whenever I think of the images of the following year when people were being repelled from the US embassy and UH-1 Huey helicopters were pushed off the side of an aircraft carrier to make room for follow-on aircraft until the last one arrived.
