If you are "prairie dogging" with a .308, you're wasting ammo unless you plan on eating them in which case the instant field dressing from the .308 will save you a lot time. The numerous .22 variants are extremely effective (on "varmints"), faster and cost much less. I also cringed at the paragraph in the article when they were discussing some of the attributes of the .243 with a picture of a bull Elk next to it. Now I know they didn't say "you can use the .243 on Elk" but too many folks will see that picture next to it and assume it would be okay. Using a .243 on Deer - yes, Elk -NO.
