Made my eyeballs try to sweat a little bit. Must've been a little dust in the air!

I am of the opinion that HORSES and DOGS have done more for humankind than just about any other animal that can be brought to mind. (I'm sure there are others, but these two prominently jump to (my) mind.

Thanks COL Mikel J. Burroughs for letting us know that the USMC recently honored USMC deceased war horse SSgt Reckless by unveiling a statue of the horse at Camp Pendleton.
Reckless served with quiet determination as she supported the Recoilless Rifle Platoon, Anti-Tank Company, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division in the Korean War.

I was honored to be a mule packer for Echo 2/5 and when I went thru my training at MWTC in Bridgeport is when I learned of SSGT Reckless. And yes I address him by rank cause she is Marine. I learned she was quite the character and lived off of poker chips and beer. she is actually buried at the Ranch House at Camp Pendelton. One thing I would like to add that in the Korean War she made not one, but multiple trips to a USMC MG position with ammo. she did this without being lead by a handler and herself was wounded. Upon being hit, she did not quit and continued to support that MG position. To not honor her, would be a big damn injustice and an embarrassing one. Semper FI

SSgt Boyd Herrst - you are very welcome. Only one of your up-votes was from a marine.
