Traitors Manning and Bergdahl both should have been executed but one was given the Obama discount and the other one was given the liberal judge discount. Both should have ended up like private slovik. No back pay. Attorneys want to make their 40% so that's why we have problems with health care and prices Denver go down because the legal Lobby is sucking the you-know-what a both parties and nothing get accomplished.Eddie Slovik https://g.co/kgs/zHqNpf

At least Pvt. Slovik was honest about his desertion (can’t handle combat). Still the dumbest decision he did, but he didn’t try to concoct some stories.

While Bergdahl’s reasonings may have credibility, it’s hard to prove it if you desert in enemy territory.

2ndLt Fulton Recepcion - private slovik should have just had a year in The Stockade and had dishonorable discharge. Instead, General Eisenhower wanted to make an example out of him at the beginning of the Battle of the Bulge. It is just unbelievable I actually feel sorry for private slovik but I don't feel sorry for Manning or Bergdahl. Bergdahl's recruiter probably lied and he should have face jail time too since he probably helped him get enlisted when they overlooked his prior record showing he had been kicked out of the Coast Guard. Slovik was a victim while Bergdahl and Manning where examples of piss poor leadership. Manning did so many things in basic training and the drill sergeant just kick the can down the road. Being a drunk and a druggie didn't help Manning any. He should have never been allowed to survive basic training. Even though supposedly nobody got killed under Manning's Revelations, we can't prove that because the Diplomatic cables at said which government official was clean and which one was dirty in these different governments that were corrupt could have got these guys thrown in jail or killed but we can't prove it. Case in point the Thai government you have Thai government officials that are training I States and think of ethics and doing things the right way and then you have other officials who are corrupt and want to do things their way. The cables would to tell the Ambassador which people within the government have ethical standards in which don't. Now, thanks to the idiot Manning, those bad people within the government's worldwide now no the people who were trying to make changes and stop there corruption. Those people now have their careers in Jeopardy or they're no longer in the government. Social justice Warriors saying Manning leaks were benign but I think that's BS! I've spoken to a former foreign area officer who work in Southeast Asia who knows exactly what kind of traffic was sent through the Diplomatic cables and this is the kind of stuff that has hurt our reputation in Southeast Asia Western Europe other parts of the world. It is for that reason the Chinese are building a canal through Thailand to go straight into the Indian Ocean because President Obama played favorites and scolded the military government of Thailand for overthrowing a civilian government while being nice to Egypt who is military also overthrew a civilian government that was mostly Muslim Brotherhood. Egypt was not really punished but Tylan was and now the time military is slowly going toward China and they have been our allies since World War II. Manning is responsible for this. It will take years to mend the damage. Social social justice Warriors, Manning and Bergdahl are idiots. Don't feel sorry for them!

LTC (Join to see) - Pvt Slovik was executed for much less than Manning or Bergdahl. While I like Ike, I don't know about his decision to have Slovik shot. I'm not excusing Slovik either, but compared to today's clowns, the latter is getting off for bigger crimes.

>"Bergdahl's recruiter probably lied and he should have face jail time too since he probably helped him get enlisted when they overlooked his prior record showing he had been kicked out of the Coast Guard."

Probably. Also, he joined at a time when the Army was granting waivers left and right because they were having problems with recruiting and retention.

What's done is done though. Even if there were relaxed standards in recruitment, Bergdahl was briefed on the UCMJ and its regs regarding desertion. There is no blaming the system for his dirty laundry.

Maj Marty Hogan And worst of all, his lawyers want to give him the POW medal. He admitted to the desertion, and they want to give a medal for that?

Maj Marty Hogan - they can't fine him that amount, it's not an authorized punishment under the Manual for Courts-Martial.

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen - he was sentenced by a military judge alone. No panel.

Then the amount of the "back pay" will contribute to his ultimate social security (if it is still around) payment - not an intended benefit. Also, I would hope that he would be required to file a 1040 and fines and judgments are NOT deductible.
