How are you undecided about war raids at the rate of 27% and then get an 86% answer that it will end the war earlier? Wow that is a very odd spread- or some people were just nodding to leading questions perhaps?

My dad was of the opinion, that they should bomb them into oblivion.

As a Vietnam veteran Myself, I agree with your Dad. The bombing is the only thing that even brought them to the bargaining table and it should of continued until they were all gone or surrendered. Bombing halts with them never worked, every time one was held that would regroup and attack, I should know I was on the receiving end.

I was there at that time and if it were my decision to make I would have started bombing the HCM Trail from the furthest point south all the way into North VN. That would have greatly disrupted and cut off their supply and troop movement route and at the same time relentlessly bomb the North to keep them from getting their supplies and troops to all points south. Oblivion and then some. Your Dad would have my support. Laos and Cambodia let them through so we should have been able to take them out if those Countries wanted to continue receiving aid from the USA.

Thanks Mark for sharing history of the Vietnam War on this day in 1966, when the public opinion was for the bombing of North Vietnam.
