Good, evening, my friend SGT John " Mac " McConnell and thank you for sharing the word of the day which appends to be a noun "purview."
I have had purview over other soldiers and alternately my leaders had purview over me.
1. When I was an enlisted man, I recited my General Orders at guard posts at various times :-)
2. As a commissioned infantry officer, when I was officer of the night or other positions over guards, the soldier guards recited their General orders back to me as well as any specified orders. :-)

Prudence had purview of Peter, Paul, Penelope and Prunhilda in matters of day-to-day prescribed procedural and administrative responsibilities at Purviewville, Pennsylvania.

Ahh ! Yes ! The good ole days of guard duty my friend LTC Stephen F. . Quite a few things to learn from that duty. Having knowledge and a chance to become the Man And serve as a backup.

It would be wise if those elected to Congress would remember they are under the purview of the electorate, not the other way round.
