Began watching Boardwalk Empire a few weeks ago and read a few posts recently on WWI. I admit I am not really versed in this war. I am doing some research and found this. I am amazed that we fought this war like we had for many hundreds years previously against the new weapons that could inflict damage on a larger scale.

Thanks for sharing Maj Marty Hogan death masks were common in the past and since chemical warfare was introduced in WWI lots of countermeasures including various and sundry protective masks for gas attacks from humans to horse were developed.
To me these images are not creepy at all. My paternal grandfather fought in the trench warfare of WWI along with his brother and many other British young men.
