The article referred to "special" 9mm ammo. I wonder if that was Bloomberg not really knowing what they were talking about, or if it's just standard 9mm hollowpoint ammo. Regarding the quantity of ammo, there's going to be a lot of training on the new guns, and a lot of ammo consumed during that training. Plus, you'd always rather have too much ammo in stock than not enough.

As an aside, it's interesting that we're adopting HP ammo at all. My understanding was that we've used ball ammo since forever because of an international agreement.
