For this afternoon's Music Interlude I have chosen a song from a wonderful movie about a time long ago in Greece..... Gladiator - "Now We Are Free" Composed by Hans Zimmer and Lisa Gerrard... It is the Soundtrack/theme song from the 2000 Ridley Scott film "Gladiator" with Russell Crowe, Joaquin Phoenix, Connie Nielson, Oliver Reed, Derek Jacobi, Djimon Hounsou & Richard Harris. The album won the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score and was also nominated for the Academy Award and BAFTA Award for Best Score ("Anthony Asquith Award for Film Music").

It is a very powerful story! "Gladiator takes place in AD-180 and is loosely based on historical figures. Roman forces, led by the general Maximus (Crowe), defeat Germanic tribes, bringing temporary peace to the Roman Empire."
