Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson declares health emergency after 7 COVID-19 cases confirmed

Military installations are prime targets for epidemics, because military personnel are often housed in very close quarters. BCT units often house trainees in barracks that have everyone sleeping in the same room, and using a common bathroom. Even in AIT, we had four-man rooms, and when I got to Fort Sill, we still had two-man rooms, that shared a bathroom with another two-man room.
