Most of us have been places where we've seen that with our own eyes. Ugly American pretty much describes it!

Most Americans have no idea what "poor" actually is.
When I was in Kyrgyzstan, I would hand my garbage bag to the person standing by the dumpster on my way to work for he could see if there was something he could get or salvage. And don't get me started on "Ugly American" as I could tell you some horrible stories...

Life may not be a bed of roses for us who have been in middle to lower class, but it can improve a lot if you keep trying here. My wife and I are finally getting ahead after too many years of living paycheck to paycheck. Much better than some countries.

Absolutely. My family was an inner city, low income when I was growing up. No heat, no hot water, often no electricity. Both my sister and I are far better off than that; moving up is very possible.

Lt Col Charlie Brown - My dad was only making $60 / week and raised three boys. While paying off a bankruptcy under the wage earner plan. I made as much as that most of the year by doing any chore anybody needed done.

Herb I am glad you are being successful. It is a shame we have to wait until we are so much older to enjoy it.
