Good morning Col Burroughs. I find this quote to be true the longer I do counseling and volunteer work. The same event is looked at very differently by people; their reactions and views of what happened are often in conflict with each other. We imbue what happens to us with meaning based on who we are and what we've already experienced. This is why it can be so difficult to empathize with someone's response to a situation or event; we may be looking at it from a completely different perspective.

Lt Col Charlie Brown - We must always remember that events are viewe differently from the "eyes of the beholder!" and no two people will see the same thing or hhave the same perspective about any events, because of their prior experiences, their beliefs, their upbringing, and the list goes on... Thanks for sharing that perspective Charlie. Give our best to Tom and try to carve out sometime to relax this Labor Day Weekend. Let me leave you with my final thought Charlie:

“Whether the events of your life are good or bad, keep your chin up and always try to find the silver lining or message that is before you. Some events you can control, and others are just thrown in your path and you have to deal with them. May you always have a positive attitude no matter the circumstances. That will help you through it anything; may you always be in the very best of health; and keep your family safe, secure, happy, and healthy. Stuff happens, that’s why they call it Stuff!” — COL (Ret) Mikel Burroughs

Good morning Mikel and my friends on RallyPoint! I remember when we had Field Day when I was in the 24th Infantryman Division. Leadership created a day of competition and barbecues. The day was fun and brought us all closer together. It was inspiring and motivating.

SGT Gregory Lawritson - We had a Division Field Day. Competitions in every task. Winners from each battalion competed against the others. As you said, a great morale booster! Who likes to lose?

SGT (Join to see) - Those are cool events, we did the same thing in many units that I was assign to over the 37 year period from cook-outs, picnics, to Olympic type competitioin between companies with in the Battalion (did that 4-years in row). Sometimes you have to think outside the box and make completion within the soldier tasks and skills a fun event. Thanks David and enjoy the evening while keeping this in mind brother:

Good Saturday morning Colonel... I have been awake far too long, having gotten up before 5 am! Just about ready to make coffee & get some breakfast! LOL! I shall be back a bit later to add my quote selections... Wishing you and yours a wonderful Labor Day Weekend, Mikel!

Preparing to for tomorrows visit to Cape Cod to see my youngest son Jeff and His wife and I hope my oldest daughter Colleen and her family who has a summer home not to far away from her brother... LOL!

“Events Day!” Why Not?

1) "There are no mistakes. The events we bring upon ourselves, no matter how unpleasant, are necessary in order to learn what we need to learn; whatever steps we take, they're necessary to reach the places we've chosen to go." - Richard Bach

2) "It is the quality of the moment, not the number of days, or events, or of actors, that imports." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

3) "There are events which are so great that if a writer has participated in them his obligation is to write truly rather than assume the presumption of altering them with invention." - Ernest Hemingway

4) " There are no mistakes, no coincidences; all events are blessings given to us to learn from." - Elisabeth Kubler-Ross

5) "You see, it's never the environment; it's never the events of our lives, but the meaning we attach to the events - how we interpret them - that shapes who we are today and who we'll become tomorrow." - Tony Robbins

One event does little to move the course of life, but in the real world, ...

“Innovative leaders create events that bring purpose to the team and organization; ‘Inspire and Motivate;’ and they handle the unforeseen events with poise and confidence!” — COL (Ret) Mikel Burroughs
