Every time I read that we will never travel faster than light, I reflect on the fact that we have absolutely no idea what 83% of the mass of the universe is made of and, beyond that, an unknown energy force makes up 70% of everything. We are opining from our knowledge of 5% of what is.

Steve's off the wall prediction- We will be traveling faster than light within 200 years, if we do not off ourselves first. Probably a lot faster.

True, bit it takes a little less than a year to get to light speed at an acceleration of 1g. At 1.2g you could be better than 4 times c in three years. Three years accelerating, 3 years slowing down at the same g force, and you're out about 10 light years. Not great, but quite doable.
