Thank you my friend MAJ Dale E. Wilson, Ph.D. for posting the perspective of Jeff Schogol - playing the devils advocate
With the serious issues threatening this nation, it is ludicrous IMHO to focus efforts on renaming bases, naval vessels, military armaments and others named coincident with CSA people. I concur with MAJ Byron Oyler' response.
Instead of using the DoD Budget to rename bases, vessels and equipment, use BLM executives taxes and their allies to defray costs of renaming as well as the suits that will be launched by local businesses, etc.
I recommend renaming Arlington, and Alexandria VA due to its linkage with the Robert E. Lee family and his ancestors. :-)
'The naming commission has until Oct. 1, 2022 to provide Congress with its recommendations on how to change those names and the defense secretary must implement the commission’s plan by Jan. 1, 2024.'

How about we skip renaming the bases and use the millions we would have spent there on inner city youth that are really hurting in places like Chicago and Detroit? I understand these bases offend a lot of people but the money this will cost could be better served elsewhere.
