I my self do not get all this first this or that. Man or Women Black , white, Asian and so on. Then there is all this Gay ,Trans what ever you want to identified as.
Who really gives a honest shit about it. Do your job, Don't be a jerk, Treat people the same. And most of all no one owes any one anything other than basic respect to each other.

SGT Charles Bartell - I agree. Unfortunately, there's a lot of emphasis on identity politics nowadays. I sincerely hope the newly-selected CSM is capable and the selection is based on merit.

MAJ Hugh Blanchard - Of course it is based on merit. Do you know that women are selected for those positions after serving longer than their peers. If anything it is the opposite. I was selected for E-9 after 21 years of service compared to my male peers with 18 years of service - and my record was stellar. SMDH.

In 1989, when I was teaching at USMA, the Soviet Army chief of staff came to visit the academy.
My, friend MAJ Dan Bolger was assigned as his escort because he spoke fluent Russian.
When Dan came back to our office, he said the Soviet general was astonished by the number of female cadets. He inquired as to how many there were and Dan told him 11% of the Corps was female.
He said the general shook his head and said, "We thought the number of women reported to be in your military was disinformation. We couldn't believe you could be so stupid. We employed women in combat in the Great Patriotic War only while our backs were to the wall. As soon as conditions permitted, we returned them to a supporting role."
The general told Dan it was the same for the Israelis. "But you watch," he concluded, "If their circumstances improve, they'll do the same thing we did."
Dan went on to command the 1st Cav Div in Iraq and later got a third star and served as the Army DCSOPS. His last assignment was as chief of training in Afghanistan. He retired after that and wrote the book "Why We Lost"--about our wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
