SPC Erich Guenther - The UN Ambassador had the temerity to say that the UN Security Council issued a "strongly worded statement". Life imitating art - that is straight out of Team America.

1SG (Join to see) - I don't think the UN has any influence with the Taliban. I am rather concerned about the Taliban' increasingly arrogant statements though. They just told the press that they will give us some more time but that we were already past the agreed upon date to pull out completely and they refused to specify how much more time. That is not a good sign they can hold it together much longer.

SPC Erich Guenther - I'm very concerned about what's going on over there as well. I don't think those defending the President's call realize what the situation is actually like over there. We not only left our own people behind, they're also unprotected and the Taliban is 100% interfering with the process of getting the American citizens home safely. There are multiple reports that things are not going well, and the process in which is being used to get our people home is ridiculous and is putting them in harms way with the Taliban. They Taliban is interfering with the process to ensure the citizens left can't leave, and that in itself should be extremely alarming. We should have NEVER left our people behind. The military should have left last so we could have ensured the safety of all before completely withdrawing. Leaving thousands of non-combatant troops behind was a HUGE mistake, and I disagree with those who think Trump would have done the same. I understand people may not like him, but he would not have left our own people behind unprotected. I don't think any previous President would... Biden is a different story.

It was not his fault. Nobody provided a winning strategy in Afghanistan, which means nobody knew the answer. My gut feeling is we do not study how terrain has tactical and strategic implications. All I know is it is quite fortuitous for our military to confront a large mechanized army that tried to hide itself in the middle of the desert. Our weapons systems rangers were significantly longer and more accurate than the Iraqis. Now that my friends was a Turkey shoot.

MAJ Ken Landgren President Trump had a conditioned based withdrawal. If the Taliban started taking provinces over like they started three weeks ago. He would have stopped and he would have hit them hard. He said on Fox news that he talked to the Imam that he thought was in charge of the Taliban and said if you kill American soldiers, we will take out your village. We know where your village is. He wasn't walking around with an ice cream in his hand talking about weird stuff but actually telling the Taliban that you will negotiate with the government that is there. If you start attacking cities, we will come back in and waste your villages and kill your men. Instead, our safety president takes away all the Intel, takes away any air assets that could be used to stop the Taliban. You know about LZ x-ray that Lieutenant Colonel Moore needed air support when he was about to be overrun by a superior Vietnamese Army in 1965. Superior enforce. You can blame the Afghans which were relatively weak, but their special forces were well-trained and they were used to close air support. President Trump was going to take the civilians out first, the major equipment second because he didn't want to fall into the wrong hands like it has now, and 3rd have the troops pull out and not be in the same screwed-up situation that we are in now. Mr. Biden is history, now the media will no longer just be asking him about his ice cream or what brand of shoes he wears but actually ask him really tough questions because they will no longer support him now that he is the biggest embarrassment ever. MAJ Ken Landgren - If they are used to CAS and blind to the enemy intel about the force attacking them or coming to engage, I would be afraid too.

LTC (Join to see) - Thank you for posting this, sir! You explained this very well. This is what I meant about this administration pulling out of Afghanistan the wrong way, and how the President could have made better decisions. There was a much better plan in place when withdrawing from Afghanistan with the previous administration, and you can tell the current administration ignored it. There seemed to be no real strategy, and that's what bothers me the most about it. Now, we have our own people left behind and a fallen country in Afghanistan. So many fought and unfortunately others died. I feel as if their death was in vain after what has unfolded recently. What was the point of all that blood, sweat, and tears for 20 years if they were just going to botch it completely at the end? Thank you for your input, sir.

It's very strange how suddenly conservatives 'care' about the people in the Middle East when I've seen nothing from them other than "We need to leave, that's not our problem" and "We should have just dropped a bunch of bombs and wiped the place out" for years even from people who are serving or have served. Or the lack of concern for the Afghan people when they were called "collateral damage." I even have recently seen people who said we should have just bombed the whole country from the start on this forum. It's just weird how suddenly all these conservatives "care" about the Afghan people.

SFC (Join to see) just because one and twenty persons say that doesn't mean that all conservatives are like this. I purposely wanted to be a Commander's emergency response program project officer because I really wanted to help make the country better. Build back better not like Biden destroy everything done by Trump and claim it as better. Here are more pictures of the civil-military operations center and the coin we received from Admiral Mullen in Afghanistan. Just because an 11 Bravo says it doesn't mean it's true. Civil Affairs, psychological operations and Special Forces all worked to help make the place better.

He wanted to win the hearts and minds and not nuke the place.

LTC (Join to see) - What are you talking about "1 and 20 persons" or "just because an 11B says it doesn't mean it's true." That's not at all who or what I was referring to but again - not surprised who got triggered by my OP.

Have a GREAT day.
