This is my 2nd post today after the Software upgrade and I have now found that once you Post your file, there is no editing... When one posts in a technical environment, one may have to edit text for spelling, information accuracy and more... and now I cannot do that nor can I broadcast this out to those interested in Technical data, whether it be Space, Physics, Astronomy, Geology, Biology (no Tag yet) or whatever the technology is... Instead of improving RP for the membership it seems like RP is making it mor difficult, but that is based on a software change that as yet has not settled in yet... I am hoping that it will not be so restrictive so as to prevent Veterans from using their creative skills to reach other Veterans and help them through physical or psychological issues that they may have...

I Joined RallyPoint to use my technical skills to help others and publish interesting and challenging material so that Veterans can expand their minds and see what is happening on the world front and not just the myopic world they may be in at any moment in time...

PFC David Foster - That is not how it works, David... Software engineers usually work off line on updates, bug fixes and more... Then there is a functioning server and a back up server so that if the main server goes down, there is an automatic or manual cutover to the back up... IT people usually will take their tested software upgrade and install it onto the main server during off hours (like Midnight to 6am local time), which gives them time to upload and test to make sure every thing is working as it was planned and usually there are minimal issues...

On occasion if there are critical changes based on a major fault, the IT people have to work real time to solve a software glitch... This update was no simple glitch, but a major software upgrade that The RP powers that be decided needed to be done on the fly, so the server was basically shut off from the internet and the new software loaded real time... They knew there would be bugs and they started working those bug issues and one by one they are being fixed... Some functionality will be cut out, other functionality we have been used to will disappear or will be modified... Enhancements will probably be the last to update and become operational... I have seen some negative updates and some positive, meaning that we are slowly seeing the recovery on some of what we have been used to seeing...

Tags will be formally be software restricted to a maximum of 20 per post or response as that was one of the bug issues... Also, editing may be a thing of the past on Posts... We will have to wait a bit to see if that holds or comes back to normal. Note that with 1.8 million RP members, 20 tags won't get your information widely viewed, just minimal, so posts and responses will become shorter and shorter like Twitter and to some degree FaceBook and I am sure others... I many not have covered everything that is going on, so accept as an overview...

Sgt (Join to see) - Man, that was a lot to explain... definitely not my field... I only knew we got the points back in the game... I guess we were lucky.... I appreciate you trying, but that stuff is definitely out of my league... I didn't mean to imply that I knew what I was talking about... I was guessing why we got the points back.... Thank you.

PFC David Foster - Did you, in fact, get all your Points back? I have not, as yet, anyway...

Sgt (Join to see) - No no, I meant we got the points back in the game I played.... It was The Game of Thrones Ascend.... it was a great game with players all over the world and they were constantly adding to or doing something to the server and the points always came back, but it could have been something completely different that caused it... I have no idea.

The article: On September 26th, NASA attempted to launch Ingenuity for its 14th flight but was unsuccessful... It was not that the Helo was not function ing properly, but that the Martian atmosphere suffered what appears to be an atmospheric density drop, preventing Ingenuity from obtaining enough lift, even with the rotors spinning at 2800 rpm to fly as it once did. This should be temporary, but Mars is now on its elongated path around the Sun and is approaching its Martian winter...

Here is what NASA / iGadgetPro wrote in the Video Description:

"On September 23, 2021 NASA’s Perseverance Mars Rover transmitted Ingenuity’s Helicopter onboard camera images from 2nd attempt to complete 14th flight. Ingenuity for the second time did not get off the ground. Previously on September 15 NASA officially reported that Mars’ atmospheric density went down due to seasonal variations. As a result, Ingenuity has to increase rotor blades spinning speed to 2800 rpm to fly as before. First spinning test on the new 2800 rpm speed Ingenuity passed successfully. But it still can’t fly on Mars with this setup. NASA’s engineers currently working to solve all problems occurred on Mars to make Ingenuity Helicopter be able to scout Martian landscapes for Perseverance Rover. In video presented three sets of images from Ingenuity’s onboard camera (in the end of the video). If you see carefully you can notice that stones in the center of the images are in the same position relative to Helicopter’s body. That means Mars Chopper did not take off the Martian surface."
