They barely have an Air Force, many runways aren't operational and we expect them to become proficient in NATO aircraft? At best some of the current NATO countries who still fly Soviet era aircraft might have something the Ukranian pilots are familiar with, but that's far too few aircraft.

MCPO Roger Collins Ya they're doing great with what they've got. Makes me wonder if our Intel guys zctually were spot on back in the 70s and 80s. Our wing had targets in Ukraine and essentially we were trained to be more worried about ground defenses than the Soviet AF.

That’s the plan - MiG-29s from other former Warsaw Pact countries. Poland has 27 serviceable; Bulgaria and Slovakia also have some.

CW4 Guy Butler I think we could encourage them to do that with a one-for- one exchange of say an F-15 or F-16. They should know they won't get those aircraft back.
