Years ago, I watched a movie that was titled "The Philadelphia Experiment", A story, I thought fictional at the time, but one shrouded in mystery dealing with electromagnetism, gravity and Einsteins "Theory of Relativity" with an end result of making a destroyer escort become invisible and then returned to visibility, but with tragic results! Is it true or was it a fabrication?
Here is what the Video/stories published on the YouTube Channel 'Dark5' states in the Description:
"In the fall of 1943, the legend goes that an incredible experiment took place in the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard. While on berth, cannon-class destroyer escort USS Eldridge abruptly disappeared along with its 200 crew members.
As America got involved in World War II, the brightest minds of the era, including Albert Einstein, were at work trying to develop new technology that could give them an edge over their enemies.
It is said that in an attempt to render their ships invisible, the US Navy created a powerful device that ended up teleporting an entire vessel. USS Eldridge seemed to vanish from thin air, but she then reappeared with terrible consequences to her sailors. Or so the story goes..." - Dark5
Do any of you Navy folks have more detail on the USS Eldridge and the so called Philadelphia Experiment, or what the title states, "The Failed Navy Teleportation Experiment?

One thing mentioned in the film also was making ships invisible to mines by wiring around the ships hull. That's not exactly what was going on, it was an anti Magnetic field to repel mines and not attract them to the ships hull. My late Grandfather, Howard R. McCarter as an official at Boston Edison Co was involved in that then Top Secret program (now declassified) and would leave home for about 2 days for each ship outfitted in the manner in which He was directly involved in the project. He wasn't even allowed to tell My Grandmother where He was going or what He was doing. I do know that many WWII Navy Ships did end up being equipped with this system designed to repel magnetic mines.
