Sgt (Join to see) "Behind Every Legend there is a Kernel of Truth" to Quote Sgt Shultz,"I Know Nothing! Nothing" About the SLQ-32 and/or History of Electronic Warfare. Can You make a Ship Disappear, No! Can You Make an Entire Battlegroup Virtually Disappear by Using One Ship to Mimic the Entire the Battlegroup in Electronic Warfare? OPDEC (Operational Deception) Have I been Involved in OPDEC? Yes! I Love Smoke and Mirrors.

Sgt (Join to see) "Failed" I don't think so! Success then and Now. Just Not Like those Not in the Know Expected. No, No One Melted into the Deck, No, No One Time Traveled, Were Excess Levels of Electromagnetic Radiation Used, Most Definitely, Could and was this Hazardous to those Involved Heatlh? Most Definitely, "Warm" Stand in front of a Radar Beam, Climb in Your Microwave, What do You Think?

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel Sgt (Join to see) Remember that the concept of the microwave oven came during WWII from someone noticing that the chocolate bats in his pocket melted when he was standing in front of a radar beam.

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen what fun treat! But were they baseball bats or little flying-by-radar, blind-as-a-bat bats?

One thing mentioned in the film also was making ships invisible to mines by wiring around the ships hull. That's not exactly what was going on, it was an anti Magnetic field to repel mines and not attract them to the ships hull. My late Grandfather, Howard R. McCarter as an official at Boston Edison Co was involved in that then Top Secret program (now declassified) and would leave home for about 2 days for each ship outfitted in the manner in which He was directly involved in the project. He wasn't even allowed to tell My Grandmother where He was going or what He was doing. I do know that many WWII Navy Ships did end up being equipped with this system designed to repel magnetic mines.
