ILLUSTRATIONS: (1) Brig. Gen. Josiah Harnar is defeated by Miami Indians in the Old Northwest Territory, Oct. 1790. (2) After routing militia troops in forward positions, attacking Shawnee, Miami and Deleware warriors grappled with the crews manning Brig. Gen. St. Clair's 6-pounder, cannon. (3) Indian warriors slaughter St. Clair's soldiers trying to escape the trap into which they'd fallen. (4) Miami Indians persue militiamen fleeing from their defeat on the banks of the Wabash River. (5) Miami warriors kill members of a fanily in the Old Northwest Territory. Such depradations led to the Harmar and St. Clair expeditions in 1790-91. (6) A surviving officer desperately tries to rally troops to break out of their encirclement by assaulting Ojibwe warriors with their bayonets, 4 Nov. 1791. (7) Miami warriors slaughter soldiers during the Battle of the Wabash. (8) Maj. Gen. Arthur St. Clair's forces are defeated on the banks of the Wabash River in the Old Northwest Territory.
