It's not Grand Pa's gun, but it's real close. I have newer pre-Ruger 336 that I like a lot. I wonder what it would be like to take it and one of the Ruger made 336s out to the range just to see if I could tell them apart somehow.

The short answer is you won't be able to tell them apart. Bill Ruger's legacy lives on and the folks at Ruger got it right. I'm waiting for my wife to get forgetful and I can sneak one home some day.
