PO1 William "Chip" Nagel a normal person would have taken it to a no-kill shelter to be adopted by a family who is able to display love.

When the dog has already attacked livestock AND the owner.

But, I mean, who cares about details.

City folks just don't understand country folk. This was a working animal, not a pet. The working animal was attacking livestock - and not the owner's livestock, a neighbor's. It was also not doing its job - it was a hunting dog that wouldn't hunt. And it attacked the owner, drawing blood.

The same people who cry about "vicious" pit bulls and want any "vicious" dog who attacks a child put down IMMEDIATELY, regardless of how much the dog was provoked are the ones who are attacking Noem for putting down her dog WHO HAD BEEN ATTACKING PEOPLE.

Do I agree with her decision? No. But neither will I condemn it. It wasn't my decision to make.

If that 14 month old pup was attacking people, something is wrong. Was it mistreated? Bird dogs do not usually turn vicious without cause.

MSG Stan Hutchison - Doesn't matter...my granddad had a dog that was a couple years old. It was a mix. It went after my brother and pinned him to the ground when he was 4 just for walking by him...not the first time that animal bit someone...he hated to do it but he had to put him down. Same with Pit Pulls or for that matter any animal that doesn't do what it is supposed to do. On a farm sometimes it is more merciful to put and animal down than to let it live in a cage just becasue you wnat it to live. If my granddad had a cow that couldn't produce any longer he couldn't afford to keep it and lose money...money was tight so he would put it down rather than keep feeding it and vet bills etc. In this case the dog show vicious tendencies and in my past with animals, especially dogs, when they get the taste of blood they don't change. Doesn't matter why it turned vicious it just matters that it turned vicious and killed and mauled other farm animals.

MSG Stan Hutchison I agree something was wrong. Which is why it was put down.
