Thank you, my friend CPT Jack Durish for honoring Mr. Fred McFeely Rogers whose calm, compassionate and welcoming to each and every human being on his weekday program helped educate us in a wonderful way.
By the way my own father was similar to Mr. Rogers in encouraging his children and welcoming each and every human being.
That program was so much better than later programs which tended to agitate children IMHO.

That would have been my mom, not my dad. And I never got into the show much but the rare times I did see it - stuck with me to this day.

CPT Jack Durish, my wife and I actually met Fred Rogers in the early eighties. We were in NYC for a sales convention and met him in FAO Schwarz of all places! He got off the up escalator almost as we stepped on to go down. We introduced ourselves and spent a few minutes telling him how much we enjoyed his show. He was most gracious and we were delighted to have met him.
