Beth Casella's family has been making things out of metal in Dayton, Ohio, for more than half a century.
FC Industries — the company started by her grandfather, Frank — has grown into an $85 million local manufacturing business, churning out everything from high-tech centrifuges to La-Z-Boy recliner frames.
"We're growing," Casella says. Not entirely certain, but think we toured that factory when on a TDY to Wright Patterson AFB to have a custom flight helmet made in the early 70s. They did measurements in the morning then I had to come back in 4 hours for the final fitting. We did a factory tour of a metal fabrication company during that break because it was close and I recall them saying the founder was from Haiti.
