Thank you, my friend SSG(P) (Join to see) for posting the "news" that a Cow [Junior] from the USMA class of 2021 is missing along with his/her M-14 Rifle [without ammunition or magazine which are stored securely in separate facilities from the cadet barracks].
1. Based on the fact that this cadet went missing after 1730 on a Monday with a M-14 rifle indicate to me that a regimental or higher parade practice was probably taking place.
2. That is prior to dinner which is served in Washington Hall.
3. Walking around with an M-14 after parade practice would not draw attention.
I expect the search is on for a body at this point.
Caveat: I am a member of the USMA class of 1980. The current superintendent Daryl A Williams is a member of the class of 1983.

LTC Stephen F. - Glorifying socialism is the desensitizing of Communism. Subscribing to people or organizations that favor Socialism and/or Communism is the reason the citizens of the U.S recoil, is for the obvious reasons, loving people do not hand poison to our loved ones.

LTC Stephen F. - Communism has a Horrible past related to leadership slaughtering it's own citizens. People that know these facts tend to defend the Constitution/Freedom most vigorously.

Communism and democracy are ideals which may work on a small scale - communes and small city states San Marino - perhaps :-)
1. Nations whose leaders embraced an understanding of communism have each enacted communistic principals under force for the people while enabling those at the top to live as they please. USSR, Russia, Cuba, Cambodia spring to mind. Yugoslavia is an exception which sees to prove the rule.
2. National socialists including the Nazis slaughtered people as well - they slaughtered communists early on.
3. Absolute power corrupts is a maxim which is independent of political philosophy.

The more I read the Constitution and about the founding fathers the more I love it.
The Founding Fathers went to great lengths to ensure that we were a republic and not a democracy. In fact, the word democracy does not appear in the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, or any other of our founding documents.
How about a few quotations expressed by the Founders about democracy?
In Federalist Paper No. 10, James Madison wanted to prevent rule by majority faction, saying, “Measures are too often decided, not according to the rules of justice and the rights of the minor party, but by the superior force of an interested and overbearing majority.”
John Adams warned in a letter, “Remember democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet, that did not commit suicide.”

Why We Are a Republic, Not a Democracy
Democracy can easily devolve into tyranny by majority rule. The Founders understood this danger, and so they placed numerous checks on the power of the majority.
