LTC (Join to see) I concur with you that extending the flight life of the F-16 from the original 8,000 flight hours to 12,000 is great not only for the USAF but for all FMS partner nations which operate the F-16C/D Block 40-52 aircraft. Over the decades India has been aligned with us or the Soviets/Russians. We competed with the USSR in south Asia - Pakistan and India alternated between aligning with the USA and USSR.

The F-16 has morphed from its design intent and now has great use as an air superiority weapons platform. The USAF can use all of the F-16's it has and it makes great sense to license manufacturing to India. India as the world's largest democracy needs the fighter much more deeply than any other nation and it pays dividends to support them. They have the Pakistan's' right beside them, the Chinese in the north in the Himalayas' region, and finally several terrorist para-states operate in its border areas.
