Air Force suicides set a record in 2019

Tragically I'm not sure we ever will. Six months after arriving at my first duty station we had a base commander commit suicide and I don't think I've gone six months without seeing another since then.

Alcohol is a factor... go sober and stay alive. A Marine Corps Reserve LTC and DEA agent went to a bar after work complain about work and qent home andshot himself.One of his co-workers was a COL in my former training Command and told me what the news did not report. We also have had, in the last five years, a couple active-duty generals one or two star killed themselves and I suspect That alcohol and stress was a factor. It seems like they killed themselves right before they assumed a new command. It's really sad that the Air Force, which has a relatively easy lifestyle compared to the other services, has the highest rate of suicide.
