Thanks for sharing, my friend SGT John " Mac " McConnell the background and video on Air Raid on Broome, Australia on 3 March 1942. That was the furthest south the Japanese were able to attack.
The Nippon naval air force considered itself to be invincible since they had been successful against Pearl Harbor, Malaya, the Philippines and so many other areas.
The Air Raid was very successful in that there was minimal warning so many aircraft were destroyed on the ground.
The year of 1942 began to be a turning point in the war in the Pacific Ocean.
The Japanese by that point had build up capabilities in the Solomon islands and were pushing into New Guinea. New Guinea was an area where many of the locals were fierce warriors who hated the Japanese.
