I started looking into Ms Alexandria Cortez as the “new face “ and “Rock Star”of the Democratic Party. She grew up in a very affluent neighborhood. Her dad was an Architect. She is very bright and well educated. The problem is, in the district she won very few voters turned out. There are 712,053 residents in New York’s 14 Congressional district. There are 235,745 registered Democratic voters. How many total votes were cast for Ms Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez election? Total votes cast were 27,836. Not exactly a tidal wave of enthusiasm. She is far to the left of main stream America. No borders, free college, doing away with ICE etc. it appears that, like when Trump won, many Crowley voters didn’t show up because he was going to win.. Is the Democratic Party in a complete state of apathy?

Because New Yorkers don't vote in primaries or general elections in large numbers. Look at how many votes De Blasio got, and then all the crying by New Yorkers when he instituted soda laws. It is a right and a RESPONSIBILITY to vote. On this Cortez woman, at some point the left, and to an extent the right, need to get away from identity politics. They try to out identify each other. She said that Trump is scared of a woman from the Bronx... the problem is that Trump is from Queens and she is a rich kid from Westchester, not the Bronx..... It would also be nice if people actually know what socialism is and how damaging it is, and never really worked. The lure of free stuff is powerful, but nothing in this world is free.
