It's a global economy, and it will be very hard to execute any moratorium on Chinese investment. I carefully research the products I buy - and buy American whenever I can. I also never buy ANY kind of food product for my family or our pets from China. (Chinese pet food sometimes contains poisonous substances.)
I agree that American companies should be given right of first refusal in military acquisition and procurement of goods and services.
I do NOT object when overseas companies come to America to give good jobs to our skilled work force; we should encourage that I think.
America First is a good idea, but we cannot isolate our economy from the world and the other large trading nations in the world.
Regards, Hugh

I have no problem with overseas investment in this country MAJ Hugh Blanchard but it does concern me when China owns our economy and a British company owns the housing for our military. I also try and buy American whenever possible and you are right about the pet food, I have hear that before. I have a nephew who will not buy any metal made in China.

OK...Would you rather that BMW built a car plant in Mexico or operated one in South Carolina? The sorry fact is that we are the world's largest debtor nation. China owns a good bit of that debt. If we don't want the Chinese, or the British, or many other nations, to invest in our companies and hold our debt, then we should not borrow so much money from them. We have a great economy, but we are living well beyond our means. So, what federal programs do we cut? The only really large elements of the national budget that are not involved with entitlements is the Defense budget and health care. Almost all of the rest of our national budget is entitlements (Social Security, Medicare, Supplemental Social Security, Food Stamps, free cell phones, free food, free housing, etc.) and payments on the national debt. If you want us to live within our means then we need more income and less spending. More taxes drive away business and ultimately reduces national income. So, where do we cut?

US is in difficult and may not have leverage necessary. China is the governments largest lender regarding the national debt. China's response to a moratorium may be to stop letting the US borrow money. The effects of that on the US economy could be catastrophic. The US is in vulnerable position to be drawing hardlines with its money pipeline.

SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL, that really had me bugged when i first realized it was a foreign company and they are all over the country. Buying up american companies is one thing, buying up American housing for service members buy a foreign company is certainly another thing. They may be American operated but they are foreign owned. You know for years I never bought a foreign car as I believed we should be buying american cars. Then I bought a Toyota when I just happened to be looking with my wife and read the label on the car, 98% of the car/truck was made in American. Thats one thing but military housing, thats a whole nother issue! Spread the word. I think something should be done about this. Maybe if I write my Senator, Im sure something will be done. Right!
Maybe I'll spread the word, Ill do a post and see how many people know about this!
